What is a good setup (and software) to run a 4x4 Shortcourse Truck on?
I,m driving a Hobao Hyper 10SC and installed sc and turbo on my esc, but now my lipos last only 7-8 minutes (running a 550 motor), so i,m looking for a decent setup for my ESC. Typical race is only 5 minutes...and you ran 3 minutes over. You are lucky your lipo did not balloon on you....honestly, if you have full power for 6 minutes, that is more then enough. But if you can run the car for 8 minutes, most likely, you are not really max out the setting of the motor and ESC. |
The problem is that a race here is 7 minutes + one lap, in another championship (that I lead) it is 10 minutes.

To make your 550 last longer...turn down boost, or run no boost, turn down timing on ESC and motor, smaller pinion...less brake, drive smooth on throttle finger....alll of the above will help on run time. Especially running for 10 minutes, you really need to trim down everything.... The easiest software that will get you longer run time is the 508 no timing software....that has no timing adjustment, no boost...= longer run time. I assumed you are running 2S only....get a bigger MAH batteries too. Try this setup...and I will have more after the team came back from the Trackside Short Course Tour... http://www.speedpassion.net/inc/down...20Walt%20G.jpg |
Okay, I ve had problems since I use the the 110323 software with boost and sc.
But I want to keep using a bit of timing via my esc. Is there a software with timing but without the boost/SC?? That would be perfect for me then, and is 50% brake enough?? I,m upgrading to 6200mah lipos (60c) that will help a bit too. |
Guys,
I have been testing my V3 17.5 motor with GT 2.1 508 "Blinky" using the 20 deg sensor ring in conjunction with the green high power rotor. What a improvement over the standard motor setup. I have the timing window advanced all the way, and it has gobs of torque, and looks for more and more top speed. Temps around 130-140 outside ambient temp of 85 or so. It works great. Higher "C" rating batteries are a benefit too.:tire: |
I got out today to run my b4 and b44 with new Prostock 2.1 and new pro2.0 and I must say they are sweeeeeet... Anyone on the fense about speed passion, tekin or whatever.. this is your choice..
Thanks again to the speed passion guys for straightening out my order before shipping and getting me the right ESC. |

Okay guys. My printer/scanner has got some hicups so I'm unable to post my SP 13.5 V3 Short Course setup sheet, BUT it is the same as my Short Course 17.5 V3 setup with the following changes.
22 pinion Physical timing at 5 deg on motor. Will try 10 max next race. 9-48 17-16 Here is my setup sheet for 17.5 below. With 13.5 it is ballistic! Temps at 125+! http://www.speedpassion.net/uploadfi...0David%20P.jpg |

What issues are you having? Post your setup.
setup is a gt pro 2.0 with a Speed Passion Silver Arrow 5.5 (and 4.5)t 550 motor on a hyper 10sc. Looking for the software without SC and turbo but with the possibility to change my timing via esc, and be able to finish a 10 minute final. |

Thanks Solara, my next race is (luckily) postponed because of the bad wheater, till 3 july.
I now have another 2 weeks to tweak and test. |
I bought the SP SC Master about a month back, and finally had a chance to test this weekend at the track. Ran about 4 minutes, and brought it in for some suspension adjustments. Went to tun back on and nothing. The motor seem to twitch a bit but not turn. I turned off the esc and unplugged the sensor cable to test. That worked for a couple seconds then that stopped. I tested the motor on another truck (which tested ok) I then tried another motor on the esc and nothing. The fan spins there is a solid red light and orange light, but no power to the motor.
Any ideas for further testing? Or just send back for warranty. Rob |
