I do know when I used the same sensor wire and changed from the Speed Passion ESC to my old Novak Havoc that I did not have this problem. Bad thing is the Novak doesn't have the punch that this one does.

The motor is an Orion 17.5t VST.

Have you tried a different battery? See if you can power someone's higher end pack.

Revention Pro

Does the revention pro use the external capacitors like the GT 2.0 pro?

No...Reventon PRO use a single cylinder type.

Does it use the same programming box? I'm guessing no?

No...

But....Reventon PRO came with one free, so no need to buy one, cause it came with one (LCD one) from the ESC.

They did indeed warranty the capacitor. Sent me a new pair within days!! ESC was not damaged. Look for the black line on the side. It should be closer to the black wire than the red.

The stripe is right about in the center of the red and black wire.
maybe you can tell from the pic. It would make perfect sense why it burned where it did if the poles were reversed. It didnt seem to fry the inside of the case since I dont see any smoke or discoloration through the clear bottom case.

It also melted the solder joints right off the battery +/- terminals.

Here are some pics

will any 550 motor work with the reventon pro.
and can you add timing with them, without damage.

Your capacitor has the black wire on the side of the circuit board that also has the black "negative" stripe... So it is polarity correct. My first one had the stripe on the side of the little circuit board that had the red wire soldered to it. That was wrong. Both the replacements look like yours. Maybe a bad capacitor in general?
