180 is little to low, 220 is probably the lower you can go with a race distance unless your really light on the throttle. If you are always temping on the outside - use that as your baseline. The internal set up is only meant to be a backup.

What nobody talking on here for how many days?????? That is crazy ---- We won at RCHR in off-road, Summer Sizzler in on-road, had a crazy servo display at IRCHA --- people need to be talking about this stuff!!!

What's the average running temp on vst-xl 4.5 motors? After about 15 mins on the track running practice laps it temp'd roughly in the upper 140s through three packs and the ambient temp was upper 80s. Just want to make sure that's a safe temp for that particular motor

That's more than safe. Sounds like you might be able to gear up for the race.

+1 . We will be running at the same track. Looking forward to meeting up!

If you find you want to run another class, give the EB48 a look. 1/8 E buggy is popular at the track. Funny as I remember when it was nitro nitro nitro!

I'm probably going to be getting the eb48 for next season also just picked up a nt48 because the price was a steal so hopefully next season will be pro 4 e buggy and truggy gonna be a busy race day but fun...to get back on topic of the thread are you by chance running viper motor and esc in your eb48?
Viper though from what I have seen stands behind their stuff with long warranties and excellent customer service. Its why I decided to give them a go. |

I run the Viper VTX8 in my EB48 as well. For motor I run the Tekin 1900kv one as at the time the vipers were still in process. I am on the look though :) I just like to not be the first one in on things. Not a knock on Viper, but if there is a first run issue, as I don't get to run as much as I want, I don't want to be down a race day when its pretty much 1 time a month unfortunately :(

Just ordered my first Viper. A VTX8 with the 1900kv motor combo from amain. Going to be putting it in the new Xray XB8e. Any suggestions? The program card that comes with it is all I need to program, correct? Decided to step away from the Tekin "sheep herd" at my local tracks.

If you want more aggression from your brakes, try lowering the PWM frequency. I can make my SCTE stand on it's nose with my VTX8/Tekin Pro4 4000.
