I don't know its never been plugged to computer, I don't have one of those cords, I only have the cord pro gauge to esc

colormegone 12-04-2013 07:08 PM

mine did the same thing and a I had to reset the battery cutoff to the correct voltage of the battery I was using.

astarback 12-04-2013 08:34 PM

Is it plugged into the rx backwards?

Graham11 12-05-2013 04:41 AM

No, I'm not new to RC, I've tried all the little things, the esc powers up and steering works, I can put it into program mode and everything just can't get it into calibration mode. The motor currently does not do anything.

If you can program with your card then see what the voltage cut off is set at.
My motor would not work till I set it for my 2s battery.. somehow it got set for a 6s battery and would not let my motor work but you could steer it.
It had been working fine for about 6 races before this happened.

1. try changing do a different model on the ESC without the Progage. I'll paste directions below.
If that doesn't work then go to number 2

2. do you have the PC Link? If you do, try doing a profile reset from there and wipe all the settings back to default.
If that doesn't help go to number 3

3. download the proper firmware and re-flash the ESC

I've had bad flashes happen to me when updating test software, but never with any of our production stuff. Still, there's always that .1% chance. If you still can't get this worked out, let myself or Fred Perkins know and we'll try to meet up with you and see if we can help. We both live within driving distance of MBRC.

Steps to change profiles without Progage http://www.viper-rc.com/pclink/updat...manual_A55.pdf
1. Connect a proper/charged battery pack to the ESC.
2. Power on transmitter.
3. Press and hold the red power button on the V-PORT for three seconds.
(Followed by beep tone, F/N LEDs on the V-PORT will be indicated as the image shown at right)
4. Press the corresponding number of time of the desired profile (refer to TABLE.1 below) on the red power button
on the V-PORT. For example, press 5 times if you wish to load profile 5. The F/R LEDs will be indicated on
every button press.
5. Release the power button for 3 seconds. The VTX ESC will save the profile number and F/R LEDs will be
flashing the number of time of the corresponding profile that it was saved.
6. The VTX ESC will then run an auto system reset. The F/R LEDs will be flashing the corresponding profile number
every time after beeping of system initialization.

yeah this is one of the first things I would look at too. If he blows out the profile and just resets it, then he will fix this.

Make sure you're on the correct profile for the motor, i.e. number of turns.

Bob Barry 12-05-2013 06:41 AM

I forgot to mention, that you have to make sure your sensor wire is good and plugged in as well. Double check that before you do anything else.

If nothing we are suggesting works, try hooking the ESC up to a different motor that you have confirmed works. Use the same sensor wire. This will rule out the motor having a bad sensor board.

So which motor is hitting the sweet spot for 8th e buggy power?

I am running the reedy 2100kv right now, but will change to the appropriate VF8!!

I have been running the 1900kv since the testing stage. Very strong. Ran super cool even in the 110 degree weather this summer. Everyone is going to love these motors.

Graham11 12-05-2013 08:01 AM

thanks guys, i do not have a PC link so can not do this. I did check the voltage setting and it is at 6.4v, i am on profile 4 which is correct for 17.5 mod right? I checked the motor by hooking up to another esc and it works. Also tried multiple sensor cords. I am not home to test the changing profile without Progauge but I will do that next. THe ESC worked fine before and it has A55 firmware. Jim at MBRC has a PCLink so if all else fails I will try that with him on Saturday. I might b e down at SJRC this sunday or next.

Make sure you send me a message and let me know if you are coming to SJRC. I don't have a laptop but Fred does. I'll ask him to bring his with him, or if you have a laptop, download the software and I'll bring my PC Link.
