For any Viper fans/customers in the Northeast - I will be at Scotty Ernst's Short Course Showdown Nation Wide Tour, Round 1 at RC Excitment this weekend in Fitchburg, MA. Several Viper team drivers will be joining me there running in both Stock and Modified SC classes. We will have some products on display and be available to answer questions and show off the VTX10 ESC, VST 1/10 series motors and some prototype VSE series motors.
Check out the details at www.shortcourseshowdown.com Look for the Viper display in mfg's row. Nick M. |

Great to hear the new name. I am still waiting to see the spec sheets on these. Also the parameters and values. Does anyone have a manual or sheet with all the info on them. Thanks

I am really getting anxious to get my new esc/motor soon for my 2wheeler!

Hey guys quick hello from the SC Showdown - it's been great watching 29 heats of SC's going at it.
Huge thanks to Scotty Ernst, Todd Anderson and his RCE crew. The facility is great, the track is awesome! Lots of pure spectators - families who came just to watch the racing - an some were rewarded with free kits from AE, Losi and Traxxas!!. Viper team is showing some good pace and making people notice what we are running. Royce is 6th in SC Stock and 18th in SC Mod, Mike W. is 8th in SC mod. And Toddie Anderson is 16th - using one of my motors (beating me with my own motor - at least I know its fast!). Here are some pics: |

Jamie, here are the settings we're running for 13.5 boosted at the Cactus:
throttle punch - 100% throttle pwm - 5000hz throttle curve - linear acceleration start rpm - 5500 acceleration finish rpm - 15000 acceleration max adv timing - 30* top speed slew rate - 10*/1000rpm top speed max adv timing - 20* Set drag brake for your personal preference, average tends to be 10-25% neutral brake. I run 12% dynamic brake in mod for additional high speed brake with a 12000rpm trigger rpm (this may be too much dynamic drag brake for 13.5 boosted). Regards to thermal temp settings: 230* on the motor and esc should be very safe for the electronics but I don't think you'll thermal unless something goes wrong. I had my buggy geared at 21/78 and i was talking to one of the local fast 2wd guys today ( he drives an RB5 with a 13.5 too ) before the quals started and he said i was under geared. He recommended going up a few teeth on the pinion. I did and up to 25/78 and it seemed fine, but lacked bottom end grunt. On the straight about 1/4 of the way down it really started to fly. Would dropping down to the 22 / 23 T pinion really have made that much of a difference? It was working ok, and I was having a real hard time with my new 4wd so i left it Speaking of my 4wd. I was running a 13.5 in that too and it felt REAL slow compared to my 2wd. Hardly any bottom end and real slow down the straight...seemed to top out. I had it geared at 25/80 then went to 28/80. That seemed to help but, was not a whole lot better. I used to run a 10.5 in my B44 and it flew. I now have a different 4wd. Going from a 10.5 to a 13.5 should not have felt THAT much different should it?? I was not running a Viper ESC in my 4wd, it didn't get here in time. I was running an Orion Vortex Race Spec ESC. |
