I had a bad connector PG to switch connector on one of mine. I had to push hard and bend it to make it work. I contacted Viper and was sent a new one. Try to contact them

Default VTX8 help

ESC has been raced about 8 times now.....
I have been using the VTX8 with a Airtronics radio in my Tekno 4x4, 4 pole 4K motor, and 2S 7200 battery. I installed it several months ago and set it on #3.The only trouble I ever had was it has a hard time finding neutral on my radio and every third or so start up it would run wild and I would have to unplug it and restart the esc.. I tried setting the end point a bit and it still does it.. I gave up and have been racing with it like this ever since..........Now yesterday I wanted to play with the motor punch a bit and now there is only steering and no power to the motor.(the F LED will not light up any longer) I have played with it for hours re-setting with the progauge with no luck.. I even tried changing profile without the progauge and it won't do anything but steer. ?

the whole neutral drift thing I remember nikos talking about.

One thing they should really get out in a version update is the ability to shut off the ESC regardless if it is detecting or thinking it is detecting signals from the radio. For those who are new to this ESC and don't realize to do this, this can cause a potentially dangerous runaway. I was thinking a lot about this as I am going to be switching the ESC in to my daughters vehicle as I love the features, durability, etc.

But now, I am kind of at a pause as with the speed passion one, I know she can just hit the switch and it shuts off. With the VTX8, if she wants to just take it out to run for fun, with her being a bit awkward with handling a remote and holding the vehicle at the same time it could be harder for her to do turn the vehicle off on her own, especially if she forgets the issue with the button not always shutting the ESC off and I have been trying to teach her that you NEVER shut your radio off first, which, admittedly now when I have the no shutoff issue with my VTX8 its easier for me to just turn the radio off and then the power button works versus messing with pulling the battery (in my SCT410, its the 5mm bullets so a bit more work than just deans).

One other thing, will the ads in rc magazines ever be updated to reflect the true BEC voltage level (8V), and if not, why?

I got the lastest car action here with the new motor shown with the VTX8, but, it still shows a "7V" BEC Rating only. this by default puts it at a perceived disadvantage to the Tekin RX8 Gen 2. Is there any reason why this is still being promoted incorrectly? Sounds like a missed opportunity here to really display the specs unless there is more to it as to why its not being promoted, even, at same the 7.4V level?

The run away set up is a bit embarrassing since when my race is up I have to go with the body off so I can pull the plug two of three times before it finds neutral and hooks up...
People look at me funny since most all run Tekin stuff.. I run Tekin in my e buggy and luv the turn on...turn off switch which always works.. No screwing around getting it going or shutting it off but now I'm really at a loss with this things new problem???

Call me crazy, but have you tried a different sensor wire yet? The end failure sounds suspiciously like a sensor wire failure. I agree with the neutral drift statements that have been made. I own a lot of Viper units and they all do this. I love Viper stuff and this won't keep me from buying more, especially with the ever present Viper support on here.

No I haven't but I can install a new sensor wire. The ESC was working fine (except for the run away mode) before I tried to change the punch setting. 80% is a bit much for my set up which is what it is on #3 pre load profiles. Now the F LED will not light up and no matter what I do the esc will not take the Progauge settings I give it... Now only steering when you fire it up. I'm sure this is a esc problem and not a connection problem to the motor but who knows?

One other thing to do is go and check and see if you have the High Speed mode on for Channel 2 (throttle). If you do, disable it. It's meant for Nitro Vehicles where you want the High Speed response for the throttle servo.

I also have seen this happen to some guys and the fix was to just use a different model on the radio.

Default vtx 10r be

just wanna say that the viper vtx 10r be has helped my 2wd short course out a lot. I ran a viper 8.5 mtr yesterday with the vtx esc and ended up tq for the day and second overall (lost tie breaker).

great throttle response and was able to clear doubles without any issues coming out of 180 deg. hairpins. this esc actually has a smooth power band that is helpful with a 2wd truck.

Viper just called me and walked me thru it...
Got it working again...
Somehow the voltage cut off got set to 19.2 and the esc would not turn on since I am running a 2S and it should have been set at 6.4 or so.. Not sure how that happened but it's all good now.
I will try another model number on my radio and see if the neutral problem will be solved. Sweet... I can race again this Sat...

Good to hear Dominick! Nice job on the TQ. I run the same ESC in my short bus a lot so let me know if you have any questions.
