Hi Ronnie, you won't be disappointed!
The VTX10 Black Edition is definitely where you want to be. The 'R' is built for lower turn motors / 4wd. So if you plan on running lower than a 6.5T or 4wd, get an 'R'. For 2wd buggy / truck, the std is fine (it's what I run :) ) Proguage vs EZLink: Proguage has battery tester as well as a few other items. EZLink is strictly a setup box. We just introduced that option to lower cost to the consumer. Proguage will still be offered separately for those who still want it. I've never run the Orion products, so I can't offer any comparison. I can only say that the VTX10BE is everything I could ever ask for in an ESC. Thanks Bob, that helps a lot. I may do some ordering tomorrow. |

Dx3r pro and sr300 but my buddy has a vtx8 and it does the same thing with his dx3c.
my DX3C with my VTX10R would do the same thing, I switched the deadband from 'narrow' (default?) to 'middle' and it went away! |
yeah, also.....when I had the mx3x radio, I had its fail safes set to 33% brake when signal was lost...... so it was never at neutral when the radio was off. So if I turned the radio off first, the switch would not work on the vtx, because it requires neutral to work.

Guys im thinking about putting the vx4.39 into my savage xs. Would this work well with this truck? I'm currently running a 10.5 reedy sonic but am wondering wether I will see an increase of power with this motor (i know its sensor less)? Also would it run well with the stock 28/60 gearing?
Thanks |
My Vtx8 went up in smoke Friday ...I'm hoping its under warranty its 2 months old ...I did my rma this morning...I've heard vipers warranty dept..is top notch I really like the esc...
We shall see what happens.... |
OMG - it will be more of kick because the Copperhead combo includes a 4 pole motor. So its not only the KV that is different, its also the power of the 4 pole motor. Not completely up to speed on Savage gearing, but if that is what you are running with a 2 pole motor, I would think you would want to go down 4-5 teeth because the Copperhead/Vx4.39 will be a bit quicker and more powerful. As always just watch the temp on your motor and speed control to be the final judge.
Thanks to everyone for the answers to the questions, pretty spot on. I comment on the point about the neutral, on some models if you move your throttle trim a few points in either direction and re-calibrate that will also resolve the issue. Nick/Viper |
ted - send it in and we will take a look at it -- I have already been informed of what happen to it, so that will be taken into account as well. PM me if you have any other questions about the RMA service.

My VTXR.45 also stopped working. It happened twice during the main this weekend. First time was around 4 min mark. Second time was around 7 min mark. Both times the motor would not respond to controls while steering continued to function. Each time the loss of control would last 30-45 sec. Then all of a sudden my motor would start working again.
I am driving a SCTE 1.0 geared 14/45. Motor temps after 10 min main is 150-160 F with 84 ambient temp and high humidity. I use Dean's plugs but fail to see how this has any effect on my motor if the esc is still supplying power to the servo. This post keeps getting erased, please help! |
Viper R/C Copperhead ESC & VX4.39 4-Pole 540 Sensorless Brushless Motor Combo (3900kV) I recently purchased this system and ran several races. the last race it ran just fine. i turned it off to get ready for next heat. when i tried to turn it on nothing happened. i tried atleast 3 other batteries and still nothing. race packs are 2s 5000mah 50c - 100c one was pack taken out right after race other was a fully charged pack. after several tries i watched closely to see red led by itself would come on when start button is pushed and held down. once i let off red led would go out within a couple of seconds. so there is power and switch response. i also noticed that the green nuetral led would also come on and go out with the red led once i let off of power switch. i am in the process of changing out motors recievers and servos to see where the problem may be located. anyone else have a similar problem and have a fix? thanks for all replies
ps everytime i removed the car from the track i monitored temps since it was a new install and temps were cool enough i could hold my hand on motor after a 5 minute main |
You need to send it in for service.
