So if you purchase the VTX8 is it recommended to buy the PC-Link and Progauge or can the PC-Link do all the adjustments the Progauge does?
The reason I say this is that there is no replacement for being able to keep the Proguage in your pocket and make an adjustment on the fly. |
Yes, I get both of these kind of things. The Castle programming card, which is not a as good as Pro Gauge, but can also be used as the PC connection. I think I must have thought Pro Gauge did similar.

I honestly could not tell you why the pc link was not built into the PG. Aside from updating firmware, the PC Link software is also pretty nice and helps you calculate settings based off your kv. Plus it gives a little more info about the settings. Most of all, it is pretty, at least I think so.

These Good Products?
Are the viper products good? I have never heard of them until this year.
|
I think so. They are smooth easy to setup and have a 1year warranty

Viper R/C Solutions announces that the V-LINK software program been released for the new VTX8. By using the PCLink cable (6VSPCLINK1) the VTX8 can be attached via USB port to a (Windows based) computer allowing firmware updates and changes to settings via the VLink software.
Embedded in the V-LINK is an updated version of firmware, A61, for the VTX8. Constantly working to improve performance, Viper engineers have updated the firmware to provide more power and improved throttle control using 4 pole motors with a 2S battery. This update will allow racers to use 100% Punch with these motors, something other speed control manufacturers do not recommend. Racers who own a VTX8, but do not own the PCLink can send their speed controls to Viper for free firmware upgrade. Simply fill out an RMA form and ask for an upgrade to be completed. For those with the cable, the software can be downloaded from our website at: http://www.viper-rc.com/vtx8.php |
Funny thing --- we were never going to do the VLink (computer program), because we like the ProGauge idea, small, easy to use trackside. We just had this really super simple interface to update firmware when needed.
But so many people asked for the computer program, that we made one -- albeit one on a bit of steroids. Because we always want to give the customer what they want. |
Will you have a program out for MAC soon?
|
Thanks, I'll be ready to go when I get my cable.
Doing FW updates is the main thing. Is the improvement for 2s drivers the main improvement with the new FW? Should a 4s driver bother? |

Gene -- I would do the update, while we were looking to improve the firmware for the 4 pole in 2s, it ended up just making the whole system better. In testing drivers were easily running 20-30% more Punch programmed into the system in 1/8 than they did before. More performance!! No increase in temperatures!!! So it was a win-win, across the board.:cool::cool:
chevmaro - we aim to please!!!! |
Great gob Viper!!!
Anyone that is in the NY tri-state area can PM me and hook up at the Barn and I will do the update. I don't usually bring my laptop because the ProGauge does everything else. But, if you get a hold of me, I will bring it. |

Need a little help please. Im have the VTX8 with a Tekin2250 in my truggy. It was doing good then the other day it shut off power to the motor. The orange and red light are flashing which I think is thermal shut down. I checked the esc with three different temp guns and they all show just under 100deg. Any ideas on what to check.
