thanks matt.
I was looking over the manual online. it looks like there are 8 preset profiles. And you can pick the profiles with the red button after holding for 3 seconds. Things I am unclear on. - What is required to connect the esc to the pc for tuning? pro gauge? - Can the profiles be edited with the red button? or only with pc link / pro gauge? I've got two 10Rs and a BE 10 now and I love them. The 10R in my XXX-SCT is barely warm when I finish a 10 min main running a boosted 13.5, no need for a fan. I run the BE 10 in blinky mode with a 8.5t and I have never felt it above ambient. |

PC link is what connects you to your PC. Thats honestly just important for firmware updates. Progauge hooks into your switch on your ESC. That allows you to change the settings within the profile or change the profile itself. I have never changed profiles without Progauge, mostly because I haven't had to. |

Anyone have a pic of the vtx10r in the b4? I might buy one and am concerned about the fit with the caps on top
The R is really only "needed" if you are running lower turn motors (below 6.5), although I would probably consider the R for 4wd offroad too so you have wiggle room for motor choices. |
ok, great info. Last question. When I look at the pictures online of the vtx10 and vtx10r, some come with shrink wrapped caps and others are just the 2 silver caps. Are the silver caps ones an older generation?

I myself would recommend the VTX10R-BE for any 4wd application. 4wd not only has a dynamic increase in drag on the drive train (especially a belt drive car), but the driving dynamics of 4wd requires one to use much more brake (to get the car to steer) and you tend to be more aggressive coming out of the hole with 4wd. All of which will tend to get the ESC hotter. I would think that most people would rather know that the ESC they bought will do the job for sure, vs trying something out and getting a day or two of racing in just to find out they have to add fans, turn down settings, etc.... |
I just installed vtx10 -8.5 in my 4x4 buggy. Motor turned down. I dont recommend this at all. I did it for one race tell my vtx10r arrives I had a points race I could not miss.

Hey I'm looking at getting into 2wd buggy and I had some questions about your products. Sorry for asking these as I'm sure they've been asked plenty of times before but I'd greatly appreciate an answer.
What are the differences between the vtx10 the vtx10-r and the vtx1. Also what are the differences between the regular and the black editions? Also while looking on amain I saw that your 17.5 motor is 1900kv. While looking at others such as the new tekin 17.5 I noticed that it has something like 2700kv. Wouldnt this motor in theroy be much faster due to the higher KV or am I missing something? |
