Only need a motor and esc. Right now I am leaning toward the tekin rx8/pro4 4k. But this system looks great. Is this system gonna have trouble with a savox servo like the CC stuff?

From last I heard, we are talking about days, not weeks.

As far as the servo issues, thus far I am not aware of the issues with anyone running a Viper ESC have a servo brown-out. I have a Savox 1257 in my TLR 22, a 1258 in my XXX-SCT, and a 1258 in my SCT-e, and have run big motors in each and have zero issues and I do not run a capacitor. I am also using a Futaba 4pk with 603FF and 614FF receivers.

Not an issue. I run the 1258 and haven't had a single glitch

+! in the 4wd i run my 8.5, savox, spectrum no capacitor and i don't glitch. Same with 2wd but with a jr servo, orion and lrp seem to have problem:p:lol: looks like these have some good capacitors on em, the way it should be.

zanernator 01-26-2012 08:45 PM

Ive got the 10 with a 6.5 and a savox .07/137 no glitch buster in my 2wd never had a problem

brent701 01-26-2012 11:07 PM

Few things.

Glitching. It hasn't happened to my B4.1 with VTX10/17.5T or my B44.1 VTX10R/6.5T Both using Savox 1258TG Servos. Love this system.... but...

I have some gearing questions
All are on a 13 sec average lap time track after 5mins of running

B44.1 gearing 6.5T ??? I am running a 19/81 blinky mode. No can timing.. esc temp 100-110 motor is hitting 150-160. I have gone 18/81 drops the temp a little still over 150. 20/81 gets it up there.
So what gearing should i start with with the 6.5T and if I installed a 13.5T

B4.1 gearing 17.5T I am running a 33/72 blinky mode. Full + can timing per Eric @Viper.. motor is getting about 140-150. i want to drop it. Eric said people are running a 33/72 to 34/72
Thinking of going to a 13.5T also... so gearing for 17.5T and 13.5T

SC10 2wd Gearing 13.5T My Novak is done. Can't get it under 180 after 2 mins. Per Novak the rotor seems to be bad. instead of buying one I am upgrading to a Viper 13.5T system. What should I start at with gearing?

Now. If above listed cars were ran on a larger track say twice the size about same setup. would they run cooler from not on/off/on/off throttle so much?

Rawwolf 01-27-2012 12:31 AM

Thanks for the info all. You just made my choice alot more difficult. Now the race begins, tax check deposit and copperhead release...:)

Brent,
Didnt know your track was that small, 13 second laptimes seems that there is a really short straight. All the suggestions i gave you i would drop another 2-3 tooth on the pinion. I thing your motors are heating up because you are not letting the motor max out (RPM) so its generating lots of unecessary heat.

Also can anyone help him with some suggestions for SC10 and B44.1

I dont run offroad so its hard for me to give advice. Thanks guys

Copperhead

1st shipment of Copperheads are in Washington and are getting ready to be shipped out to dealers in the next day or two. Priority is to first fill back-orders of course.

Thanks Eric. I will give you guys a call today and see what I can figure out.

Brent that track seems kinda small for a 6.5. We have a track like that here in NJ and one of our team guys was beating people with 8.5's with a 13.5 (2wd buggy). The the track isn't big enough handle the power it's just wasted energy. Which creates heat.

At the time of buying the motor. We don't have a 13.5T class for the 4wd Buggy. and I plan to race on the larger outdoor tracks which everyone runs a 6.5
I plan to buy a 13.5T for it now that I saw a post about a 13.5T 4wd buggy class being offered.

but for the time being. I need to get this thing cooler. I may drop to a 18 or 17 T pinion and see where the temp goes.

Now if Viper would just answer the phone would be awesome :)

On the track I run at we run 14-15 second lap times for the average folks. Our fast (national level) guys run 12 seconds (MHOR RC on youtube if you want to compare).

In my B4.1 (VTX10 blinky-17.5 45° endbell timing) I run 35/72. I come off around 125° after a 6 minute main. I ran the pack for 3k MAH goofing around and came off at 155°, a race uses 900mah in 6 miuntes. I've been waiting for 36 and 37 teeth gears to show up to try for a little more speed on the straight.

My SC10 (VTX10r blinky-13.5 30°/stock endbell timing) I'm running 28/81. After 6 minutes the motor is running about 140°. I run about 1200-1300mah per race. I need to switch to a smaller spur as the motor sits too far back and it almost maxed out.

Thank you for that info.

I am going to try a 34/72 tonight. The buggy with 33/72 has no problem getting around the track at all. It does well with the 13.5T's and some 10.5T's
