vtx1 is stated for being more so for an onroad as the vtx10 is offroad capable.
There may be some difference there, i personally have a vtx10 and love it.

Thanks

Rick, here is the set up listed in the set up guide from the Viper forum:
Throttle punch settings for 4wd Short Course Applications
When using the VTX10R speed control with sensored 550 motors, we recommend a setting of 30% on your throttle punch settings in 4wd SC applications.

We recommend these VTX10R settings when running 4wd SC with the VST XL 4.5 or 5.5 motors.

VTX10R-Profile #2
Brake strength: 80%
Brake PWM freq: 8000Hz
Brake curve: linear
Neutral Drag brake: 0-10%
Throttle PWM freq: 9600Hz
Throttle punch: 20%-30%
Throttle curve: Linear
Deadband: Middle
No timing: default
No motor protection
ESC protection: 240 degrees
Note* ESC Protection takes a heat reading from inside the speed control where a normal heat gun can’t take an accurate core reading.

You guys are all on the mark - the VTX1 has a booster for 1s use and can be used in 2s down to 6.5 motors.

How to I change motor rotation? Do I simply swap wires or do I rotate the can like on brushed motors?

SolderGlob 01-06-2012 05:20 PM

Swapping any two wires should work.

NO NO!!

Go to your radio and reverse it, what radio do you have?

and go into ur speedo's card and play with it, i dont remember but i think somebody is in there

Im am pretty sure it will fry if wires flip with sensored system, it happend to a few guys at track, wrong wires on tabs and smoke.

Not if it's sensored...only un-censored motors can be swapped.

Go into radio or re solder wires

Radio is Spektrum DX2.0. I've had it forever. Only thing swapping in the radio does is make the trigger pull braking instead of throttle.

I've gone through all the settings in the ESC and haven't found throttle norm/rev.

If I need to swap wires, where does the ABC wires need to be on the motor?

Autocratic 01-06-2012 10:08 PM

Ok, I'm stumped. VTX10R on A30 firmware.

I've gone through the ProGauge settings and nothing is related to motor rotation.

I've zeroed and recalibrated with radio trigger rev & norm. Nothing.

I've also flipped the sensor wire on the motor and that didn't change anything either.

Only thing left is swapping wires and that's going to result in a smoke storm.

So, what do I do?

Your Radio should have an option to reverse the direction. Dont mess with the wires. Reverse it in the Radio.

Autocratic 01-06-2012 11:31 PM

There is no option in this radio that has changed the direction that the motor turns. I've gone through everything.

Except that this didn't work, even after recalibration, which is what I posted above.

Viper website says vtx1 is 1-2s. Other than that are they the same?

VTX1 is 1s and 2s capable but adds the function to "up-boost" a 1s battery voltage in the receiver to run the radio system. 3.7v isn't enough to run a receiver/servo/and transponder, so the VTX1 can output 6v power to the radio system, where as the VTX10 cannot.

This is more of an on-road thing, as 1/12th scale and VTA classes run 1s Lipo.

On 2s, the VTX1 and VTX10 are pretty much the same. The VTX1 was just made to fit all on-road classes, not just 1s.

Use your pro guage and scroll to misc. controls. Scroll down and you will find "motor direction".

I went racing last night with my Viper 7.5 powered 1/10th caster buggy, It was a BIG night as we had over 10 fast guys come up from California to race at our track. It was a night of N. Nevada VS N. Cal. LOL In mod 4wd buggy we had a full 10 in the A main. I would have qual'ed 3 or 4 if laped traffic didn't get into me and hung up on my wing. It's all good though. I qual'ed 5th. Before the main i put on a new set of clay raptors with proline foam but still had some real loose fitting rear switch and aka foam. I got some proline foam to try in some new rear tires i just got for my buggy. I just missed 22 laps by less the a sec. I took 4th place.

2wd open sc had also had a full 11 in the A main. My Viper powered 10.5 Kyosho ran great all night. I made a few to many mistakes but again it's all good. I qual'ed 4th and took 2nd in the main again missing 21 laps by less then a sec. http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/w...y/1-6-12sc.jpg
