Sorry for the delay Jim, been out of town for several days. Are you running boosted or not boosted? Probably around a 26-28/84 for boosted. Or a 30-33/75 non-boosted. That should get you to a good starting point. You'll be looking for temps around 130-145* after any length run.

It didn't look like your question ever got fully addressed. For boosted 17.5 on that small track you'll probably be wanting to start with pre-set profile #4 and 29/76 (stock spur) gearing. Let us know if you need more tuning help!

Got to run my new 4.5 550 Viper VST-XL motor this weekend...only got a few runs in as I had to leave. I would say this motor is nearly as powerful as the Tekin but as smooth as a Novak...what a great balance. I cant wait to get more running on this thing.

Looking for a little VTX10/13.5 setup help. I think I'm getting close, but a push in the right direction couldn't hurt.

Running a Losi XXX-SCT w/ a VTX10 and Viper 13.5, no boost or timing on the esc..
I cant remember all the settings (at work), but throttle PPM is at 8k and motor timing is untouched from the box (40*?).

Right now I'm geared 76/28. ESC temp is 110* and motor is 160*.
Overall punch seems good, but it may be lacking a bit on the top end?

Weylin, you know the 1/10 track at ARCOR in Albuquerque.

By "lacking a little top end", he means that my rig with a tekin rs pro boosted 40, and timed 40, pushing an orion 13.5, pulled away from his non-boosted and non-timing advanced viper stuff about a total of two inches on a 150 ft straight. He's crazy, ignore him.

You may try increasing the throttle PWM to 12,000hz and see if that improves it at all. May give you a little more top end and also drop the motor temp.

If what lowroad said below is true than it sounds like your non-boosted setup is running very strong and you don't need to change anything.

here is my sc10 4x4 with the viper vtx10r. i had my first race with it on sat, i love the speedo. very easy to tune and make changes. it felt a little slow on sat. i was able to make the changes to the speedo to bring a little more from it without being to much. i pulled a 4th place finish out of 15 from a first lap tangle with a few other trucks. i would be a driver for viper anyday. lol

What motor and ESC you guys recommending for the SC10 4wd? Various outdoor tracks with generally loamy surfaces.

5.5 with vtx10r is the ticket! boost a little bit for bigger tracks.

they still test 1/8 esc /motor ? how was it ?

not to sure i know the motor testing is almost complete but the esc is just getting started! :nod:
