i've been following the thread for a few months. Since i'm relatively new to the hobby i'm not so set in my ways and the tech in this radio sounds really promising. I plan to keep some of my old FS stuff on hand until i'm 100% confident in the RM tx/rx.

The more time I spend using the MT12 to actually drive a car, the more I like it. I'm starting to prefer using it over my NB4. The MT12 just feels a bit more natural to hold, it feels like it has a longer trigger throw which I am finding that I really like compared to the NB4, and I suspect the F1000 mode offers less latency compared to the NB4 even running in 1 way mode because my car feels more consistent and controllable. The driving feel is good enough to win me over even with the less than ideal UI/OS.

what kind of driving are you doing? what kind of chassis or class?

Right now I'm just using it to run laps on my basement track with my mini-b. See the video below for an example (it's an older video, using my NB4 in this one).

I find driving my mini-b on my basement track to be an incredibly close analogue to driving my full size buggies on full sized track, and radio settings that feel good with the mini-b feel have always felt good when I test them on my full size buggies.

I thought that I saw somewhere someone had made a 3d printed part for the switches near the thumb that are nicer to operate. I can't seem to find that post again, does anyone know where that 3d file is?

Chof 04-03-2024 09:53 AM

Are you talking about this?
The file size is too large to attach, so please download it here.

Very cool! I'll give this a go!

This isn't the one I was looking for though, I believe there was some for the other thumb switches (the ones that are a little sharp)

I really wish there was a way to make the buttons feel more premium haha

Does anyone know if you can control the LED lights on this channels without a light controller?

RetroThutmose 04-03-2024 06:46 PM

radio arrived but it wont turn on. I was a little confused on what batteries to use. The battery tray says 18650 and the manual says 18350. two different sized batteries. I put 18650s in it because that's what made sense to me. It won't turn on. checked battery voltage and both are 3.7. still wont turn on. So i put on to charge and the LED is blinking red. been on charge for a couple hours and still blinking red.

Did i get a dud?

Is there some kind of default reset button? boot from SD card?

Chof 04-03-2024 07:53 PM

The correct battery size is 18650.
I don't think you made a mistake, but please check the battery polarity again.
Since 3.7V is almost empty, it will take several hours to complete charging. The red LED indicates that it is charging.
To turn on the power, you need to press and hold the power button. Keep pressing until the splash screen appears.

Hey everyone,

My friends and I all got some MT12's (3 in total), and they all seem to be running different firmware versions. 2 say RM Factory and one says it's running a nightly build from December.
To be honest, the nightly has quite a few more options, but I can't for the life of me find the newer versions.

Is there a github repo that has the mt12 firmware or were these compiled specifically for the mt12 by someone?

The nightly actually had Steering on Ch1, and the others did not.
So something is strange with how these radios are being shipped (even from the same sellers)
Thanks!

The LED lights red while charging. It's not blinking.
The LED will turn off when charging is complete, but when I left the charging cable connected, the LED would blink red. I don't know what the red blink means.

MT12 is a radio device that uses an open source OS called EdgeTX. EdgeTX itself is not a Radiomaster product.
EdgeTX's github is here.
The latest build can be obtained from here.

Yeah, I don't know. Mine says the date is 2023-10-28 14:34:50 and version is RM Factory (812f4e91). I tried to flash it with MT12-PROD-28-10.bin off the EdgeTX website, but it doesn't seem to have changed. I couldn't find anything else that says the MT12 supports.

MT12 is supported from EdgeTX v2.10.0, but the latest version of the current EdgeTX official release is v2.9.4. This means that MT12 is currently not officially supported.
The only way to obtain EdgeTX v2.10.0 is to self-build the main branch on github, or select nightly or Release Candidate.

This is my personal opinion, but RM Factory FW has some problems, so I think it's better to update it nightly. However, please understand the risks and update at your own risk.
