Yes, I calibrated the radio. Like I said in the video, most people are not going to be able to tell.

upgrade the Firmware to the latest version and calibrate it as Razor RC said. I dont have a dead zone in mine and mine is over a year old. Is yours new? maybe you got a defevective one if this doesnt fix it.

Mine has not arrived yet, the deadzone I am talking about is the one that Razor has, from what he says he has upgraded to the latest firmware, as well as calibrated it, but still has that tiny deadzone he featured in his video. But there is guys like you that state that they don't have this, while he does. He then stated in his video that he spoke to Flysky and they confirmed the issue I believe, so it's weird to me that some people say they have it, while others do not. So is this a quality issue as upgrading his firmware didn't resolve his deadzone. Also there was mention in his review regarding the Steering expo not being linear. So does that mean Razors unit is defective if guys like you don't have it, cause I think he purchased his mid last year.

I bought mine in March of this year. Two other faster racers at my local track also have a Noble and noticed the same issue. Re-read my last post, the answer is all there, I promise.

I can confirm that I 100% do not have a dead zone issue on the steering wheel of my NB4. I bought mine around Dec. 2020 from Hobbyking and I have the 2.0.85 firmware on mine. Seeing this discussion made me check out my radio this morning. If I so much as put my fingers on the steering wheel without actually trying to turn it that's enough of an input to cause my servo to audibly react. I tried pretty hard and I couldn't get the steering wheel to turn without a corresponding reaction from my servo. I also checked using the cursor position on the steering exp/rates screen and same thing - it was impossible for me to turn the steering wheel at all without the cursor moving. As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no dead zone issue on my particular radio.

Yeah, I think we're calling it deadzone, which I dont have either. But I think he's saying there's zone that causes uneven expo, not necessarily no or delayed movement. I thought I've read people were saying it was a mechanical thing, where the bar that sits on the cog on the servo was applying uneven pressure as it moves out of the 'flat' zone of the cog. In the video, he says he tightened his spring quite a bit, so it makes sense he'd feel that more that somebody who hasn't touched their springs. Its a feel that would be move obvious if you've used a higher end radio, not necessarily a defect that will cause your car to drive poorly, as the servo is moving. Its fair to assume if you've got a high end car/servo, and the skill to notice, its a thing. It's also fair to assume since its a 'feel' issue, many can adapt or deal with it and enjoy the radio a lot. If you're spending hours tuning your car to get that last 100th of a second and have a better radio sitting there, you probably are not interested in anything less than the feel you've come to expect. You're going to go back to the $$$ radio.
As far as should you buy it? are you the 'buy once, cry once" type of hobbyist? Go ahead and get the more expensive radio and not have to wonder if the the steering is holding you back. But, the majority of people will be able to use this radio and not see this as an issue. Simple as that.

I 100% agree with your point about the the steering feel being a 100% subjective thing and up to user preference. But with that said, something that we agree could be more of a subjective preference probably shouldn't be counted as an objective fault in the radio's performance as it is in Razor's review. That's the only minor nitpick I have of his actual review.
Finally, I'm not trying to say Razor is full of shit or anything. I was very hesitant to buy the NB4 after having a terrible experience with my GT3B years ago. It was a low quality piece of junk that died within months under light, infrequent use. I would not be surprised if everyone is reporting their experiences correctly and FlySky's quality control or running production changes in the radio account for the differences in reported user experiences.

Maybe "deadzone" is not accurate, to be honest I am not EXACTLY sure what the signal is doing right around center, I didn't hook up a signal analyzer or anything. It's most obvious when driving in a straight line and wiggling the wheel back and forth right around center. It could be latency, it could be non-linearity 0.001mm right off neutral, the "1mm" thing was more of a shorthand description of what it feels like and I regret saying that number because it's probably not technically accurate.
At the end of the day, either it bothers you or it doesn't, and that's all that matters. I've said 1000x most people are not going to notice, and if you don't, then it literally does not exist! If 99% of people on YouTube didn't notice anything, then it's 99% likely you won't either.

What, that most people won't notice? You have another user just check and confirm his unit doesn't have a deadzone. Cause you called it a PROBLEM in your video with big red text so I want to know why some users say they don't have it, and as your video shows you have it. Is it a fluke, is your defective, are the users that say they don't have it crazy lol. Is it a quality control issue?

You're right, it could be something subjective about the behavior right off neutral rather than it objectively being an actual deadzone, that's something I didn't consider enough.

I think its a latency thing possibly or maybe its a servo thing. But I have mine setup with a Power HD S35 servo. and like the post above the slightest touch of the wheel and it responds. could also maybe be the receiver your using? maybe its an older model? RX firmware maybe neeeds updating?
Could just be a Preference thing as well. But I own a Futaba 7PX as well as a Sanwa M17 and NB4 is on par with both of them IMO For a fraction of the Price.
I plan to get teh RadioLink RC8X when it releases to to compare that as it looks like a 7PX clone for half teh price

But according to internet protocol he makes youtube videos so his word MUST be true. NB4 is the single best mid level radio on the market, nothing comes close at this pricepoint. If there was an issue with a deadzone on software 85 when everyone bought this radio 2 years ago, its been fixed in the multiple software updates since. I bought mine with 85 installed and upgraded to 93 the day I got it...never had issues through 100 now. Doesn't sound like anyone else except razor has any issues.
This whole issue sounds like those PC master race idiots who refuse to update their computers and wonder why they always have issues because windows vista bugged out on them in 2004 once.
