And his comments about people who like it probably just arent good enough to know the difference is a little off-putting. Especially since he doesn't dig deeper into his feelings about the radio and back it up with some data. A lot of reviewers have done slow motion video regarding the claimed 3ms response and I can't say I remember dead zones and expo issues being discussed. I read through his comments, it seems like some commenters are happy with theirs and dont have the issue, and others commenting about the issue seem to be echoing his opinion, not actual owners. *shrug*
FYI, I've discussed this with Flysky directly and they confirmed the steering issue... is that sufficient data for you?

It's really not that hard to notice if you actually try. Just drive a well set up car with a Sanwa, Futaba, or Spektrum. And then drive it with the Noble, and it will be obvious. I've done all 4 radios with the exact same car on the same day at the same track back-to-back-to-back.

Did they say anything about a fix coming through for it?

It sounds like it could potentially be solved with software/firmware. Have you got your hands on a Noble Pro at all to check that one?

Not really a lot of detail if you spoke to a Flysky rep. But ok.

Did Flysky confirm I just wasn't trying? Fair enough, I'm probably not. But yeah, I would expect a $600 radio to be better than a $250 radio, I don't doubt its better by an easily perceivable amount. It just came through in your video, you seemed a little biased and just didn't like it.

Anyway, snarkyness aside, thanks for the reply and content you do.

Starting to wonder if the flysky is really worth it. I've never had my issues addressed and so far I can't squeeze any decent support out of flysky on the issue. I'm starting to come to a conclusion on mine however, I almost think that the range-test mode is somehow stuck on in the hardware. During the process of my diagnosis I toggled the feature on and off while trying the range, it seems to make absolutely no difference. Still the same results, 30-50m before loosing 2-way and 70-100m before loosing control. It's not the FW, I updated to the .93 to try to fix it and nothing changed. 3 RX/3 buggies identical results. Anyone see anything like that with theirs? Regardless, a $300cdn paperweight, over the winter I'll be parting mine out maybe - stay tuned for a sidewalk sale.

"NetCruzer" on Youtube, reviewed, uses the NB4 for racing and seems to do fairly well.

Yes I know, for the most part people rave about it - with only few isolated complaints. This is why I'm sure mine is defective, but to date I can't get any effective support.
Seems at this point Flysky process is have the seller handle replacement but it's no surprise the Aliexpress seller doesn't want anything to do with it. I had no choice to buy online, I live in Canada where the hobby is dwindling fast and no local sellers sold the product. Was either Ali, Amazon or Ebay.

Mine will be here Monday. I'll see how it goes and provide some feedback.

Default Current Firmware

Can anyone tell me what the latest firmware is on the NB4?

I've seen the videos from WTF on Youtube; just want to have a mental dry run if I open the box and the NB4 doesn't already have 2.0.100.

Page 22 says this is the procedure for updating firmware; simples as this in 2022?

Yes, that is the latest FW but make sure yours reads "FCC" at the end as it has more range than the non FCC version.

In terms of instructions, you need to put the radio itself into firmware update mode first; That option is in the settings menu. After you put the radio into update mode, you can then open your previously downloaded FW and click on it to begin the process. Its fairly straight forward.

Hi.

I´m thinking in this radio to replace my current Radiolink RC4GS. Of course this radio can´t compete with a 400€ one, but is good enough for club racing?

Thanks in advance.

Very impressed.

The NB4 shipped with 2.0.100Std and I changed to the FCC version with no issues. I downloaded the firmware, connected the Tx via USB and then double clicked on the firmware. Simple.

I bound all three receivers in 1 & 2 way protocol; in one way (no telemetry), the Rx stays solid red, however no Rx icon on the transmitter, so you have to use a servo to verify it's 100% bound.. The FGr4, FGr4S, I used the bind plug for binding and the FGR4B (enhanced mode), I pushed the bind button while plugging in the Lipo. Easy.

I also fly Heli's and Planes; I've used just about every transmitter there is (Jeti, Futaba, Spektrum etc etc) and currently use FrSky X7 for my heli/air stuff. From what I've read, the latency in 1 way mode is similar to Futaba and possibly near Sanwa.

The transmitter is more quality feeling than anything I've held from competitors. The menu array is extremely sufficient; the ability to assign the many dials and buttons to any function is spectacular.

I'm sold for now.

Oh yeah, it's 100x better than the RC4GS.

In the hands of a pro, the NB4 could be competitive. So, yes it's good enough for club racing.

Default SLT3

I plan to do a range/steering/driving test today with my Typhon V5; using the stock Spektrum SLT3 (SR315 Rx) before installing the NB4.

If I'm able to notice any notable differences, I'll post the results for what it's worth.

Looking forward to your results. I've mentioned before that I have run out of range while using my antennaless RX and did want to try and measure my antenna RX to compare. Don't recall if I mentioned it a page or two ago or not but last I went out with my SkyRC GPS meter things didn't go well because the numbers didn't make sense. What I do know is that I drove my Savage Flux farther than I had any business driving it before I decided to drive it back to me. I was using my enchanced RX. I've mentioned that, at least on my Pro, I use 2way/2channel mode to achieve the best of both worlds in terms of latency and telemetry. Gotta have my telemetry.
