Cool, thanks for the tips guys. I have the low tack stuff from signwarehouse, and it usually works good. But it doesn't want to stick at all to the 631 for some reason. Might have to order some medium and try that.

Are you using a squeegie on it?

If you need a realiable machine with easy contour cut that works directly from Corel Draw then check the Summa D602E.
It is a 24'"wide machine that can cut what you guys need.
Cost more then an average Chinese cutter but if you are really into decals it will be a good choice for the long term.

I started with a 24" Pcut with laserpointer using Signcut Productivity but soon found out that for the larger die cut contour cut decals of bodies and other stuff we make it was not consistent enough.

Sold the Pcut for the same price as I bought it a year earlier and bought the Summa. No regrets. The Graphtecs are good machines too.

Even the Robo cuts will do, but they are to small for full body decal wrapping contour cut.

If you have any question about Signcut / Corel Draw X4 / Winplot let me know.

BTW you can find me at USCUTTER forum and also on Vinylforum.org
Nickname as here CRD.

Cheers,

Paco

Sort of spam.

Hi Tres,

Did you already replaced the Summa?

I have one for you.
After upgrading my SignCut X2 to SignCut Pro I have noticed once my PCut is done cutting the blade stays in contact with the vinyl.
In SignCut X2 the blade would retract when the cutting was complete.
While this isnt a major ordeal if can ruin all the work if you forget to manually raise the blade when you go to removal the vinyl.

So my question is any idea what is causing this and if there is simply a setting that needs to be turned on or off to get the blade to retract after the cutting is complete.

Additional information you may want/need.

OS = Vista 64 Ultimate
SignCut Pro
USB Connection to plotter
Design in AI CS3

Hi Neonot,

Humm,

There is no setting in signcut pro for this.
After the cut the carriage should go up to its mechanical stop of the upwards position. What does the display read when this happens?

Does this happen only with signcut after a cut?
Does it happen with all files?
What does Signblazer?

If the carriage is lifted by hand how far is the tip of the knife holder from the vinyl at the end? make pics of it. Mine was around 10 mm if I remember well.

I would agree it should go up after the cut, but it doesnt.
The display reads it normal "Online" after the cut is complete.
It happens with all AI files no matter what version of AI I save them as.
I do not use Signblazer so I could not say.
If lifted the knife has all kinds of clearance from the vinyl. It seems to be the software is not giving the final command to lift the knife once the cutting is done.
If I manually select to raise the knife in the PCut's setup options the knife comes up without issue.
Again this is just a issue that recently came about after doing the free X2 to Pro upgrade.

I might have to give that a try. I am just hopeful it doesnt count as another install on the registration of the product. I think I am down to 1 or 2 install keys

If you cut from signcut a screen opens at the end when the cut is done and the file is spooled with two options.

Dou you get that screen?

If problem exist and you do not want to unistall and install again mail Kimon from Signcut USA and explain your problem and tell due to your number of reinstalls/transfers you do not want to risk to loose licence and if he can help.

[email protected]

Tell him I send you.

Let me know the outcome.

I see nothing at the end of the cut.
I however did figure out the issue with the knife not coming up.
For whatever reason after upgrading to SignCut Pro my device was selected as a CR630 when I have a CT630. After making that change my knife picks up at the end of the cut like it should.

Next thing I need to work on is getting the vinyl to feed forward after the cut is complete so I can cut it off but that is for another day
Time to paint right now.
