Alot of artwork can be found @ http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/ Just search for what your after.

Another way: Download various Manuals from RC Manufacturer's Sites in .PDF form, Open in Illustrator and extract what you require. ;)

Have fun :)

Any recomendations on a good, small, not too expensive cutter as well as where to get it and all the supplies?

Craft Robo sold by OOC is great. Roland makes one too. I have had my Roland since 2000 and still running strong.

What programs work well for these cutters/ploters? Is Illustrator the standard? Someone else suggested CorelDraw. Will this work out pretty good for doing the various tasks needed to design, manipulate and create? What i'm hoping is whatever comes from Graphtec with the Craft Robo will work okay in the short term. Then i'll step into something better like Illustartor or Corel Draw. Does this plan hold merit or will I be flopping around like a fish out of water?

Thanks:cool:

The graphtec program is very basic allowing teh use of text and basic shapes. If you really want to design stuff AI or Corel is the way to go. Fexi is also good.

[[john]] 08-02-2008 03:58 AM

I usually do all my artwork in Illustrator, save as a .EPS & import into flexi for cutting.

Some basic plotters allow you to plot directly from any program, As it can be set-up as a printer. I've only had this mentioned to me however, And have never experienced the quality of the final product.

Tres 08-02-2008 05:50 AM

Graphtec, has a plug-in for ILL & Corel.

Works great cutting straight from the program.

Only time my Flexi gets opened now is to convert a file.
However, I still RIP through Versaworks.

[[john]] 08-02-2008 06:34 AM

The only time you need to rip a file in versaworks is when its being printed or your using your printer to cut.

Never once have I ever required to rip a file to cut on an ordinary Roland plotter.

Tres 08-03-2008 07:52 AM

You are correct.

Versaworks is only needed when using the print/cut models.
Not the cut only.

Big-Kid 08-04-2008 03:10 AM

Thanks guys :D I'll look into what Versaworks and Flexi offer's. I've also heard Inkscape being thrown around. Is this something worth looking into?

What material is used to make paint mask's? I'm assuming a cutter should be able to cut out paint mask with no problem? Something like the Vector yellow spray mask?

Any suggestions are welcomed,

I use mainly Avery or Oracal for paint mask.

I'm not sure about Vectorgraphics, they more than likely relabel from another company.

Big-Kid 08-04-2008 03:56 AM

Cool, thanks Tres:D

Is that the Oracal Oramask paint mask stencil film? Whats the material you use from Avery?

On Craft Robo, how do you make flame border? What I meant - we have a regular flame mask, but I want to have border cust also. Instead of doing shadow, but paint the border... How do you design or setup to cut an extra .5mm border? Craft Robo will do the border but, at the tip of the flame, it is round instead of point... How do you make it not round? Thanks.... Sorry, my english is not perfect
