Nice to see the 235 cars are still alive and well around the world. We finally got our first race of the season in here in Colorado, and had a good show of 7 cars make the race. Nice group of racers and since our race day has 13.5/2s electric touring, 235 10.5/2s, 1/10 nitro touring and 1/8 4wd nitro it is fun to compair the lap times.

Fast laps were 14.9 electric touring, 14.1 nitro touring, 13.1 1/8 nitro and 13.4 for 235 car. This on a track that has a 567' run line, but smooth and pretty good traction using VHT. One of the racers is convinced we can break into the 12 second range, but I know what kind of damage you can do at that kind of speeds.

Hi mate, yes and no really. The problem is that the insert changes both castor and camber, they are not independent of eachother. I think I'll just leave it and rotate tyres each run. It's no big deal, just one of those things that annoys me really!

Cheers bud.

I bought the IRS wide axle for use in my 10R5 with the crc extension kit.
I have a problem with the diff side. With the wide axle, i will need a diff cone
of at least 19mm to tighten the diff nut. Where can i get such a long diff
cone or is there any solution to using the wide axle with the standard hub?

you have the wrong axle. The wide axle is for wide pods. The 10r5 is using a narrow pod. You can use the extentions on the original hubs, you don't need the wide axle for that. You just use the standard axle with the standard hubs.

You can use the wide axle with the wide IRS left and right hubs. I will have to check that. You will not go full 235mm but it will be more towards 225-230 roughly i think.

The standard axle is abit too short when i expand to 230mm++ width.
The left hub is not able to clamp properly and get bended easily.
Is there any method to use the wide axle with the standard hub?
Would not wish to purchase the irs wide hubs as it is costly when including air freight and i do not have any pan car support in my country.

envirobs-KSG makes a set of axle spacers that will work for diff collars. They make a set containing 1/4,3/16,1/8,and 1/16 inch spacers. Stack these until you have one of the wider spacers into the threads. It should work fine.

Gentlemen, I need some tire advice.
I'm driving on a new track which doesnt have a black groove yet so it has extremely low grip. Even the 4wd 1/8s slide off.

At the moment I'm running 30 shore japanese rubber in the rear and GRP magenta up front but still the tires dont grip the silky smooth asphalt surface.
Off course there's trees near so there's also dust everywhere.

Does anybody have any tire advice for this track?? preferably from GP speedtyres...

Try greens all the way around or white rears with pink fronts that will give you better traction than magenta. Also put tire sauce on those tires.

If you prefer GP tires, you may want to try the GP R2 (also called #2) rear tire. They provide silly traction, but also wear out as quick as whites and greens.

Our german friends have also found that 36 shore rears tend to perform better with modified motors than 30 shore. So you could try those as well.

If other brands are also an option for you I suggest trying Corally pink rears. They provide good traction and last long.
If all else fails, Corally's goldstar soft will get your rear end glued on any surface (but normally kills any corner-speed in the process).

Default vintage pan car parts ?

I have been away from RC for about 20 years. I am getting back into running in TC spec class and started looking at what I have left from my pan car days. I have a nearly new RC10L and RC12L [both fiberglas] and the remains of one or two others [TRC Pro 10 is one]. Since I have some bodies left, I thought about getting them back on the road as play/practice cars. The LHS runs an Oval night about once a month so there will be temptation to relive my youth

Is there any chance I can still find parts for these cars [esp. the Assoc.] or use parts from current models?

I've done some reading in this forum but a thousand pages is going to take a while. If there is an existing thread just link it to me, please.
