As mentioned befre, you can take out the insert and so also place a 9.5mm insert because the hole in the carburator itself is 9mm. So far I know there is no original 9.5mm insert but who knows it could have a better effect on the total venturi

YES! Here the engines are tech inspected. Especially in 1/10 IC .12 engines... Also in 1/8 GT the engines are randomly inspected to ensure 5 ports and 7mm restrictors. By the way in Novarossi engines even if you remove the restrictor completely the smallest section of carb throat is 9mm anyway... So even if you drilled out a restrictor to 9.5mm you are still only at 9mm because the carb throat is 9mm. |

Over here they never check, and yes the bottom is still 9.0 but it becomes a ram air situation I mean using no restrictor is even better don't matter its 9.0 still creates more volume and forces it in!!! |

Can't imagine it makes any difference whatsoever. That said I hope none of your technical inspectors are reading this forum LOL. |
To be honest over here it is not done as well, now with the 4min qualify it is something to look into.
I did look into the EFRA rulebook, it only says the maximum carburator diameter is 9mm, it never says where meassured :D So to me it looks like the bottom part close to the crankshaft must be 9mm and from there you can create the venturi shape all up to the top with the slide in the middle :D :D :D. But you can taper the hole above the slide a bit that it will fall better in line with a 9.5mm ventururi |

We don't have any inspectors thats what I'm saying, u should try the stack card insert its legal and its insane causes a vortex I love it. It's funny does anyone realize all these mods they do to there engines but if u only take in the same amount of air and fuel then its pointless, I also open the nipples on the tank and carbon do not worry about run time the top guys here run flat out and we are so much faster we make a pit stop.. |

You shouldnt have an issue making 5 minutes with a novarossi engine. The 2660 pipe is very efficient and actually many use the pipe on OS engines to make time. We need to look elsewhere to get time....
Firstly how short of fuel time are you? Is your tank full size (many are undersize out of the kit - Serpent is a particular tank thats about 5cc too small out the box). Clutch setup properly - not slipping? Is the engine lean enough - if the engine has just come off break-in then the engine will get better as it fully breaks in and you can go leaner. Honestly you should make 5 minutes easy on that pipe and engine. I can get around 5:30 from most Novarossi .12 engines on the 2660 pipe with both the 5 ring and 6 ring manifolds. Thanks, Dan. Yep solved today. Engine still needed a bit more running in, now making 5:20/30 no worries. |

Most car manufacturers have their own tools for this. I use Serpent in this case. Arrowmax and Hudy also have clutch flywheel and bell gear tools also.

What is a good head to piston clearance for a Flash Special? Also, which plug would you recommend with that? And how does humidity affect clearance?
