Bad Rods?
Hi everyone, I was wondering if people have had any problems with Novarossi rods in any recent .21 engines? This past weekend, I was running a Mito 9 on it's 3rd tank, still rich and blew the rod. This engine was broken in from the factory already and I was finishing up the process on the track. I typically change the rod after the first half gallon after break in but this one didn't last...

Those Novarossi Broken in engines need at least half a gallon before you run them. If there a pinch, keep running it!
Thanks for writing back Pooh. Yes I know. I have had maybe 6 engines that are broken in before this one. However, this one "broke itself in" when the rod snapped. I was still running rich and breaking it in while this happened. It seems like there is a problem with nova rods since this is very premature. |
So you have one broken rod and thinks directly there is a production issue?

I never broke a rod. And never replace a rod that was not worn out.
I have a gallon through serveral engines that I am running now. |
Could be a bad piece of metal or crappy break in. The Italians up there are pretty moody, so are Farrari cars..haha. Somewhat of a joke, but somewhat serious. Unless every rod is passed through xray, there can be some defective billets.
With that said, my rods are replaced when they wear out or earlier if abused heavily. |

WC 35 have this issue? Im trying to remember the rod number engraving.
This is no surprise. Novarossi is very snob like if you ring them. Even in E-mail, they do act like their shit dont STINK. If I loose a rod and they don't come through, I'll document and post webwide. I sent an email to them but it bounced back. Who knows what's going on. OS will be my next go to should this occur. |

Here's my rod, looks like I've got the questionable one.

If you are worried just fit one of the new 2017 rods. Mind you I've never had a Novarossi conrod fail in any of my.21s both on and offroad. R7's and R4's.
