Marc

after that they started to engrave a serial number on the bottom of the case.........

Hi Guys, I have a few quick questions

How are the plus 12-3SCT (or 12-3ST, etc) engines? I read a post saying they are more torquey than the 353, but how do they compared to other brands for top end? Other engines I'm considering are the OS TZ Speed Spec 2 and Sirio Evo 4 (I hear sirio bearings give up quickly). I'm also interested in how the novas compare for longevity, and ease of tuning (and how they hold their tune)

Also what is the best all around pipe for the engine? I've used a 2630 before and really liked it

Thanks

I ran the 12-3ST for most of last year and it's a great engine.

In the beginning I tried to run it with the 2630 as recommended by NR and the engine was a dud. Very high temps and no power.
Somebody recommended the Max 2602 pipe then and all of a sudden the engine became a monster.

It doesn't rev as much as the older short stroke models, but you can compensate with gearing.

I modified the crank timing on mine slightly and now it also revs....

In the mean time we've found out that the 2630 pipes are not performing very consistantly. One is good, the next is crap. Also, they are very sensitive to damage. A small dent can make them useless.

Craig i have driven both the SCT and the CT, i think the SCT is a little smoother down low, probably just not quite as aggressive, and believe me both have top end to go with the torque. Go with either one of these you wont go wrong, there awesome.

hey guys, another question on recommendations. getting back into nitro touring soon. i bought a used jp modified plus 12-3. based on the posts above, i want to try the max 2602 pipe but i can only find the outlaw version in stock for a good price. since it's used can anyone post:

1 - a good starting point for carb settings for running 30%
2 - head shims for 30%
3 - what type of plug for hot weather? c7tf?

Hi,

Serpent has the same pipe, Mega 2602 and HoBoa has a perfect copy, I think it's called GPX4, here is a pic of the pipe:

The mega version is better then the max version, it has a bigger inner diameter of the header so it will rev better.
But it's very hard to get hold off, i've been looking for one for 1/2 year because i wrecked the two i had. Serpent doesn't have it in stock.

guys, thanks for the pipe info. i still have my eye on the max 2602 outlaw version.

Marc
