Different conecting rod, they were having problems with the ones on the RO1, and they made changes, the new ones are the RO1As.

Are the ninja's easy to tune, and do they hold a tune well?

I know I will have to tweak it and all, but in general?

What need to be done to the engine out of the box? I knw carb sealer, anything else?

Honestly, I took mine out the box, added the shim for 30%, made sure the carb bolt was tight, broke it in and ran it. No problems and it's far from slow after close to 2 gallons.

I like that, I hope I can tune, but even so, I will have lots of motor tuners racing:D

I'm another satisfied ninja man! The stock settings on mine were lsn flush with housing, and hsn 3 full turns out, hope this helps. I feel bad for the people who bought this and had bad experiences with them, wish your satisfaction could be as high as mine. I fast idled 2 tanks on starter box using heat gun to vary temps from 170-215, used epa on radio for 1/4 throttle on ground for 2-3 tanks, epa at 1/2 throttle for 4 more tanks, still fairly rich rolling on throttle easy and letting it cool between tanks at bdc. Finally, set for wot and ran 6 more tanks still set at a "clean" rich mixture, rolling on and off throttle and varying the speed slowly. Started tuning for performance today for awhile and holy crap this thing screams! After setting up my cones for the course and puttin around I "raced" and my gawd! I haven't hit so many cones in my life:blush:, overshot all corners, spinning out, I must have looked like I never drove before! Temps after a 1/2 tank of "racing" went up to there highest yet at 275f, and the rear window isn't cut out yet, so it probably wouldn't have gone above 250ish with venting. I am very happy!

better late than never. Put the Ninja .28 on the dyno. we took it to the max spun it out to 44K and it laughed at it. For a .28 this thing will rev to the moon and be fine, the power curve on these engines are also excellent, they are very broad and smooth. here is the graph.
