They know something I don't and if I'm going to be like them someday standing proud on the podium at the end of the weekend I'm going to have to shell out some cash, ask a lot of questions and be prepared to LEARN how they do what they do and make me and my rig as fast as they are when I turn those lap times. It's not easy, simple or cheap but if you want to run with "the top guys" then you need to get to the point where you know what they know and do what they do (for the most part) cuz they are kicking your ass today but a new day starts tomorrow every day of your life. i know, its what i figured.... but thats how it will be treated, becuse its just to much money to be treated like a pos, and dont tune it right and all that..... i do know about all this nitro, i bash with nitro and all, i can tune and all.... but for racing, i figured the motors are a whole different animal.. and sounds like they are i will def learn what people do and all, but bottom comes down to, what Billy (track owner) recomends to me, i have trusted him the whole time i raced electric (on car's, set ups, motors speedo etc) and hes always right, and the racers tell me that alot... so if he says do the ninja, i will, but im pretty set on it right now, its not cheap, but its not going to break my wallet or anything.... ive raced this long, usually im a class higher because of the turnouts, so im in expert, and i dont even get a lap behind, last race i took 5th out of 6th, when i am sportsman, so im not to far behind:sweat: my glass is ALWAYS half full, i never leave the track without knowledge, or just knowing im doing this all right:D |
i did the rick v way and the mike s way and the mike motor is faster why i dont know
i can say i dont get things coz of hype,i get them for the most part cost and the ninja is cheaper than the other racing motors out there, and i dont really like mod motors coz there harder to tune i like stock ones now the newer ninja mod motor i wont get coz i know i wont like it to much and really im not good enough of a tuner for it,so i save my money and run the stock ones. there still fast. |

The only thing I would like to add here, is that each person's experience with an engine will vary, based on their tuning skill, past experience, vehicle, track and the environmental conditions under which they are using the engine. Some people will think it's the greatest and fastest engine ever made while others will think it's the opposite and there will also be a group that thinks it's somewhere in between - just like everything else in life. ;) |

M7H... you're basically a retard.... but I'll try to straighten you out..... Sorry but my math idicates that 0.071mm = .0027" not .028" Thats a huge difference!! Enough with the name calling. hey guys,
just took my mr12 to1a up to the local track today, it was its first run after break in and all seemed well. thee tune was right in minutes of tweaking, it held, ran at a good temp and was nice to drive with decent speed. but a few hours after some practise the carby began locking, to the point were it would remain at full throttle and the servo could not push it back, even by hand it proved a challenge to move. so we took the filter of to have a look and all seemed well. what can be causing this problem?:weird::confused: |

Hey gang. I just got the stock ninja .12 T01A motor today. Once the motor is fully gone through it's break-in cycles, what temperature do you guys run your motor at during racing ? Thanks in advance.

but it likes it and runs really good that way i dont know why. my idle is low and i got lots of smoke so idono running 20% |
From what was said earlier in this thread the Ninja runs hotter than other engines, but shouldn't crack 300 degrees F.

There seems to be a lot of interesting talk on this forum so I thought I would post my experiences with my Ninja 12T01A. I purchased the kit with the pipe, destroyed the pipe now I am running the FLS.
Breaking in the motor was a snack, very easy with only a few stalls which was nice. I use my normal method which is nothing special so not really worth going into. When tuned for a largish track I found it seems to like a slightly lower first gear than the novas (ie. it has less punch) and needs a slightly taller top gear than the novas (ie. it has slightly less rpm). When geared right and with the correct clutch I dont really give much away to the top end Novas, but it definitely is slower by a fraction. The FLS pipe gave the motor a touch more top end as well which was nice. ALL other pipes I have tried have been worse than the ninja pipes. I would only use the Ninja plugs, all other plugs I have tried (Nova and OS) make the motor very unhappy for some reason. I used nova plugs to start with and it pinged like mad and my motor was damaged by pre-ignition. With the Ninja plugs it runs nice. I recently had the carb come out the block like some others. I cannot say whether this is some chronic problem or a once off yet. I run at the recent worlds track and I am still using the same rod that came with the motor and I broke it in on. Still WELL within tolerances and so is the crankpin. My motor does NOT need to run particularly hotter than other motors. It runs pretty much where my Novas run when tuned right. I do know it can take a heap of heat, mine came in over 150 celcius when the carb decided to come out causing an airleak. The motor got real slow, but the piston and liner fit is still perfect and there was no other ill effects. Dunno if this is of any interest to most people, but I am really happy with my motor. I know a couple of people on this thread who have had problems with their motors and thats a shame, but I know many more who are happy locally. My motor is about 6 months old and gets run every fortnight with a 20-30 minute final. Usually a practice session once per month as well with 1-2 litres of fuel used. |
