I feel bad for the people who bought this and had bad experiences with them, wish your satisfaction could be as high as mine. I fast idled 2 tanks on starter box using heat gun to vary temps from 170-215, used epa on radio for 1/4 throttle on ground for 2-3 tanks, epa at 1/2 throttle for 4 more tanks, still fairly rich rolling on throttle easy and letting it cool between tanks at bdc. Finally, set for wot and ran 6 more tanks still set at a "clean" rich mixture, rolling on and off throttle and varying the speed slowly. Started tuning for performance today for awhile and holy crap this thing screams! After setting up my cones for the course and puttin around I "raced" and my gawd! I haven't hit so many cones in my life:blush:, overshot all corners, spinning out, I must have looked like I never drove before! Temps after a 1/2 tank of "racing" went up to there highest yet at 275f, and the rear window isn't cut out yet, so it probably wouldn't have gone above 250ish with venting. I am very happy!

Thank you for your advice. I will try that. :)

Wolverini 10-17-2007 05:21 PM

I'd love to find a GOOD modder for things like my Ninja .21 and DPS .28.

You guys might want to try Uriah Murnan.

Does the ninja line need modding? I don't have the 21 or 28, but the 12 is pretty darn sweet as it is, smooth consistent power, pulls hard up top, so it really wouldn't benefit much in my opinion. I had an offroad engine modded once and it was to smooth out the powerband and give more peak torque, it smoothed out all right, it was like going from a supercharged v8 to a 2.2 4 cyl. The acceleration was VERY smooth and easy, and the peak torque must have been in the 40,000 rpm range coz it sure wasn't anywhere usefull:flaming:. As you can tell, Im not a big fan of modding a really good engine:). I always figured if you need more power, get a better engine.(unless you have a cheapo motor and no spare coin).

Got the .28 a few weeks ago and just had a horrible time.. it wont hold a tune.. never ran well and IMO is just a turd..... yes it has power but its a joke that it wont stay running for a 5 min heat........ i know these are good motors but i just had a bad one... had to snd it back to mooogen so they could test it....I have heard from alot of people that they are having problems with their off road motors...

see graph above. Only modder who shows his power gains on an xdyno and only one who has one for that matter.

I believe Murnan has his own Dyno... Theres no reason for him to be posting his graphs on website... You just feel the difference on track.

so does, OS, Novarossi, and many many other places.....They arent X-Dynos though. How can you say there is no reason for him to post graphs? Potential customers would like to see gains before dropping the cash on it IMHO. Nothing against Murnan as he definatly knows what hes doing.

And you are sure this is not because you know you are driving your $$$ modified engine?

JetMD 10-22-2007 09:56 AM

My Ninja .12 lasted exactly one season of racing. I was at our last race and had ran my qualifiers and then I started to hear something weird. Then, it lasted 55 laps into the main and at 00:16:58.480 it was dead. I'm pretty sure the rod broke. I'll take pics and put them on here.

It took about 1 gallon to break in and i've put about 2 more gallons through it. Admittingly, I should of changed the rod and on 10-6 on this thread, I asked about that. Anyway, I was never really happy with this modded Ninja so my next motor will be something different.

No. I used to own 4 TZ that I adquired over the last season through some buying of cars then reselling them without engines. Two of them were stock and two were Murnan. I can tell you, you know when your running a Murnan and a stock TZ. And you say its feeling my $$$ modified engine?? When I got both murnan for $100 each. Friend of mine has a 3 gallon Novarossi Plus which he had just changed the conrod and when I pit him, the engine sometimes gets stuck because of the compression it still has.

As Ron C. pointed out you should give Uriah a call. Many have seen my Niinja's run a 301 and they are fast.
