Not sure why they are so cheap, or if A-Main is blowing them out (they have 40 in stock as of right now). Probably just going to carry the GXII-5R only. Not sure the G5T ever really 'took off'.

I have not seen the crankshaft, so I do not know, but on the face of it just from appearance it appears to be similar to the crankshaft of the GXII without the silicone filling, much like that is in the Alpha F850.
However you can't tell timing and such from just a generic picture, you'd have to have a look up close to see if it's the same as in the GXII minus the silicone.

Seems to be a GX-5R with a different cooling head, and a different crankshaft.

Haven't had a GXII, but had a GX-5R and loved it - and a 3-Port R that was also very good. So how would the G5T compare to the GX5R then? Currently have an Argus A52 and rrrreeeaaalllyyyy like it.. Would this G5T come close? Thanks..

Q: So how would the G5T compare to the GX5R then?
A: It's exactly the same engine except the improved crankshaft, so it should run about the same but the crankshaft should last longer. Unless there is some different timing on the crankshaft, assuming it's the same shaft as the gxII minus the silicone, it should give a feeling of having very slightly more immediate grunt.
Q: IMO it has a little more bottom end and just a shade less top end than the GX II.
A: The GXII has two small 1mm holes drilled in the sleeve (on the exhaust side), which the GX5 doesn't - other than that it looks exactly the same sleeve. I'd think the added top end might be down to those small holes.
Q: Currently have an Argus A52 and rrrreeeaaalllyyyy like it.. Would this G5T come close?
A: I don't know about the ARgus A52, but I compare my GX5 to my Ninja B01A and Novarossi 21-4C. It has good drive, but not the same top end as the Nova, I'd say about 85% of the top speed. Then it has good bottom end, but not quite as much as the Ninja bottom end. So overall it is a good engine performancewise, but if you need the same top speed as a Novarossi you'll need to go 1 tooth bigger on the clutch bell.
It seems to give about the same runtime as the Ninja, which is about 80% of the mileage of the Novarossi.
It's perfectly good enough for racing, and very cheap.

The two holes are supposed to give more lubrication on the exhaust side of the piston, which runs hotter. I doubt they affect performance.

Don't have either crankshaft to measure timing, but my money is on the GO G5T being pretty close to a Precirotate D5. At least close enough for comparison about performance: http://www.rctech.net/forum/offroad-...d5-engine.html
Probably will be picking one or two up at that price.

Funny how it's only for the North American market, and not available for export to Europe.. I think I might try one anyway and have it shipped to a relative..
Looks like the exchange rate is picking up in my favor, now that Germany has let itself get suckered into paying for all of southern Europe's profligacy and corruption, and then the US cranked up the printing presses again..

That likely just has to do with distribution rights. A Main Hobbies is a GO distributor, so they can't sell to Europe and infringe upon the European distributors' market, by undercutting their prices because of a favorable exchange rate, etc.
