Is it me, or does the A52 seem like it takes a while to warm up?? I heat it up to around 165 with heat gun, then fire it up, have to drive it another 2 min or so to get it really running, thats going to be a pain in the but at the track, we only get 2 min warm ups before races.. Im almost 3/4 gallon of fuel, will it get better the more it breaks in??

i usually heat my motors to atleast 200 degrees before firing. so you dont have to wait so long to warm up

its a bit hard to do that at the track for a qaulifier, they usually have 2 min of quiet before each heat that they use for checking in cars , then 2 min warm up..

You probably need to lean it out, most people think they run fine when they are still rich. Lean it out and watch out!

Its running about 235 now,I know its not completely accurate being on the road but I simulate the track best i can with straights, lefts, rights, slalom's, and such and run bald tires to get some wheel spin to try and be as close as i can get tuning wise at home. besides, our tracks groove out like concrete anyways here in florida.. lol.. Guess i will see what happens when i get atrack day..

Been thinking about getting a 2090 for my stock A52's. I have a 2081 and 0801. Really liked the 0801 the best. Have any of you had experience with the stock A52 and the 2090? Which stinger did you go with?

I've barely touched my needles, and when I preheat, even to say only 150F or so, then start it and run it back and forth a bit, it hits temps fast. I assume from the pinch. Are you giving some gas once started? Hell I think mine would hit 200 pretty easily just idling after 30-40 seconds or so..

Your temp-gun might just be off too.. Or something with the tune or plug or whatever..

I pre heat to around 160-170, its at 190-200 when i take it off the box from blipping throttle once started. The motor just seems cold blooded it still takes a few minutes running around on the ground to sound like it cleared out and warmed up. it isnt fat . I was just wondering if it will get better as it goes through more fuel

Jeff I have a stock and modded A52. With my modded I bought the 2090 and I love how the motor sounds and not real punchy on the bottom end. I have the stock and 0801 pipe. I will have to tune the stock motor to the 2090. I use the orange stinger which is 7.5mm.

Yea the 2090 takes some punch off the bottom and makes the power band very smooth:nod:

I made my own engine heater, bought a 12v 2x6 inch heat strip glued it into a can coozie, sewed the top added a Velcro closure and thats it.. I tried to use my power supply but it got way to hot, well over 300 and was burning the material, LOL, using my turbo 30 on motor run mode at 8.5 volts for testing. Will report back more.. I have basically $32 bux into it and 1 hr of my time.. Picure isnt the best but you get the idea..

The A52 is definitely cold blooded! I usually pre-heat mine for at least 5 minutes and it still wants to low idle. It takes about 2 laps to get really warmed up, but I've learned NOT to mess with the needles until this point. It's usually pretty close, just a minor tweek here and there. The new A5 on the other hand warms up nicely on the box and idles forever. Both scream, but I'm really digging this A5!!

How would the argus D52 compare to a werks B6? I am setting up my first nitro buggy and doing some field reseach on engines. I really like the look/features, and price points of both motors. I've seen the B6's in action and they scream!

Both are great engines The D52 has a lot more bottom end as where the B6 has a softer smoother feel, both have great top end and are good engines. Just depends what you like as far as power delivery goes. It is good to stick to same brand if you are happy with them that way the tuning is similar to what you have now. And if anything ever happens you have parts you can swap out from each other as well later on if needed.

I rebuild alot of motors for guys and bearings,new rod or p/s/r are much cheaper for the Argus/Alpha engines.
