for the record, Torco is 100% synthetic like Nitrotane

Yep Torco is all synthetic, But Whatever additives they have put in ther lube package its work very good. Leaves a nice coating of oil in the case, the 30% is 11% oil content and it lubricates very well. LEaves a lot of residual behind. Only all synthetic I have seen like it so far. Most all synthetics are pretty "dry".

[QUOTE=Rcrenew;9748911]Yep, just wait till you get it fully broke in and race tuned  And like RcGeezer said my mod version Pulls even harder all thru the powerband. while still being easy to tune.Definitly a head turner:sneaky:

Lance you can expect an order from me for one of the modded versions maybe around xmas. Told the wife what I wanted so I can only wait and see if she will let me get it. My first race next year will be the Phyco nitro blast in GA in March. So cant wait for that.

How is the motor and 801 pipe in the truggy? Will if get the same response and runtime as in buggy?

ArgusNZ 10-07-2011 01:05 PM

what do you guys think of the byrons gen2 race fuel? just about to start using it, i see they do a race mix with 11% oil or pro with 9%, what are most using?
25% or 30 % nitro?
cheers

I ran the 9% in my first Argus, went a little over 7 gals. of hard racing before the rod went kapooey.

Cool
The Argus with the F0801 its a great combo in truggy, in truggy we are getting about 11 minutes with that setup.

Thanks,

Lance dont cut yourself short I run that combo in my truggy and and can go 12 mins all day long. In a 20 min heat Ill come in at 10 and at the end still have almost a quarter of a tank left.:)

Rcrenew 10-07-2011 04:01 PM

..lol Yep on a higher bit track We can get 12 but At Revelation its very loose so it wastes some fuel and we always end up getting about 11 minutes out there. It's like Tokyo drift at Rev...lol

So Im sitting here and wondering if its better to have spare engines for various tracks. People seem to talk about a high bite vs loamy and so fourth. I plan to get a spare engine but was going to use if the main went bad or something.

Just curious.

Mosy guys I know (including myself) always have a backup, loaded with clutch and everything. most of the time its not needed but. That way if anything happens you got another one ready to go if you need to swap it out. In racing its always good to be prepared.

this is a trivial question, and i believe i know my answer, but i'll ask anyway.

1) can a dirty fuel filter affect the performance of a engine?

2) How often to clean the filter?

3) is there any other after market filter help to keep these filter more dirt free?

thx

pianori 10-10-2011 12:18 PM

A clogged or restricted filter will affect performance. The faster the air moves through the carburetor throat the faster the accelerating response as well as top performance (given all things equal – not talking about torque, larger displacement engine, different combo pinion and spur, and or exhaust).

I typically will clean the filer with compressed air when I finish my day at the track. Some times depending how dirty and dusty the air filter I might dust it off in between runs. I personally completely clean the air filter once every two weeks (remove from intake clean with soap and oil). It really depends how often you run your engine. I typically run a secondary dry foam ring over the actual air filter so that it can catch the really heavy particles. Besides I have found that it is best not to have an oiled up air filter to come in direct contact with dirt as all the dirt cakes up around the air filter making the engine even harder to breathe.
Any way that is just what I do.

By the way,
I tried the 801 exhaust with the Argus….Holly Molly! What a difference in low-end torque and top-end performance. I am a believer now! I believe in the power of Argus!

I'm glad you bought that up. that's one of the reason why i bought this question up. I was struggling to keep temps down some weeks ago, and thinking about it, i think it was because of a clogged filter. next race (with clean filter), the car was WAY too fat. that was because i was fattening the carb up when my filter was clogged. Now i need to become more aware of my carb.

I am running the lucky 7 filter. the tracks i run on are typically dusty. The luckly 7 filters has the inner filter and outer filter, both are oiled. Shall i run a think dry filter on top of the two oiled filter?

thx

what temps are you running to that run time...... we can't even get near that

These engines get very good fuel mileage, But the main thing I see guys doing (on every brand engine) where they arent getting runtime is running too rich. To get good runtime the tune needs to be right on. ALso being throttle happy. If the wheels are breaking loose all the time your wasting fuel mileage. bUt out here on a 90deg day these run optimal at 250-270 deg.

In truggy these engines get 10-12 depending on the normal factors
and buggy 9-11 minutes. I was running my new SH Z10 buggy this weekend getting it dialed in and was consistently getting 10:45 each tank at a full race pace, with the 3033 Werks #6 plug large track fairly loose.

Oh ya, I run 8mm restrictor in truggy and 7mm in buggy

and also mkae sure your running the right pipe, I know some guys swear on a lot of pipes but out of all the 20 or so pipes we tested the F-0801, 3033 were best for mileage. We also just got in the new 2090 with different size stingers it also works very well and gets good mileage but we still have some more testing to do on it before we have a full review.
