The 2013 works pretty good on the Argus however it lacks some top end and a little fuel mileage compared to the f0801, 3033 and 2090. But it will definatly get you by

I run unmodified A52 in both Truggy and Buggy. Theres no need to mod these motors for the tracks I race on, especially in Buggy. You would need a pretty high traction open track to want more power, or be able to use it effectively.
The B52 I used wasn’t run in so wasn’t performing well up top, but the bottom was good, so yes I think it would be good in Truggy. I certainly want to try one thats run in fully

Well I have just finished reading (with some skimming) this entire thread. yep...all 68 pages! LOL! It sounds like this A52 engine is one of the best bang for your buck engines going right now. This engine was reccomended to me by Neal at clockwork racing and I am seriously considering buying one in the immediate future. My questions is for those who have both engines...how does a clocked (modified) A52 compare to a clocked Werks B5 as far as torque and rpm? I am down to choosing between one of these two engines (I think) and would like to place an order within a couple days or so.
Thanks

Great forum btw, this is my first post over here!

One thing I like to look at in deciding to buy a motor is the cost of repacement parts. Some motors cost more to rebuild than to buy a new motor. Parts for the Argus are cheap.

I think both the Argus and the Werks will be totally awesome.. But as with everything to do with nitro engines, it's not a given that either will work flawlessly.. How you treat it - break it in, tune it, what fuel and pipe and plug, etc.. have a lot to do with it..

I really, REALLY like my Argus - especially given how little I paid for it..

But assuming even prices, I'd personally probably get a Werks. Just cuz there have been so many people out there raving about them.. If the Werks costs a fair bit more, I don't know.. I'm cheap when it comes to engines, and I really do think the Argus is about as good value for money as you can get.. The Werks too - maybe more value even, but yeah, it probably costs more too.. Stock vs. stock the Werks costs what, 25 bucks more? If so, that's a tough call.. With Werks though you also have the expensive pipes.. Though more and more I keep seeing and hearing how great of an all-round pipe the Werks 2058 is anyway, so having one of those would be good for other engines too..

I don't know - there are so many biased people around spouting out their trash-talking or trying to sell you something or whatever.. If like me you don't have the money or time (or weather..) to try everything yourself, it's hard to get all the info you need from the internet.. Who knows? You might get a Werks and have issues with it.. Or the Argus might.. Or both might rip for ten gallons with zero issues... Lots of variables... There is no objectively "right" answer. Go with your gut..

I agree completely, and if you can afford it try them both out and decide for yourself. Most of what you'll hear here are racers opinions, but occasionally you can profit from others errors or experiences. Personally, I've raced both...and really prefer the Argus to the Werks. For me it seems to tune easier, has an even power band which is controllable, and the top end is wicked with the 081 pipe. All I know for sure is that it's certainly nice on race day NOT to have to worry about your engine's performance...and I get that from my Argus.

Well I have both engines the Werks B6 unmodified and the Argus A52 modified. I run the B6 on a RC8 buggy and the A52 on a truggy TRF801xt. The Werks is paired with a Werks 2058 and the Argus with an 801.

To be hones I like both engines very much. They both start right away and they both put out tons of power. The Argus gets 2 minutes more run time (9.5 vs 11). The Werks puts more power out, but it is on a lighter car. The A52 holds a better tune all day long at the track. The Werks I have to fiddle during the day to get it to run decent. Not sure if the carburetor is defective, but it is a pain in the rear to tune right.

I have 2 gallons in the B6 and about 1 gallon in the A52. I had a bad bearing with the A52 when the engine was new. After replacing the front bearing it runs great.

So to answer your question which engine? It depends on you. I feel that I still need to tune the A52 in order to get more power out of it. However, it never dies on the track, it just keeps on running. I cannot say the same for the B6 as some times on high jumps the engines dies on landing, so I have to compensate with a high idle. The power of the B6 is ungodly, but the reliability and fuel consumption of the A52 put a smile on my face every time I run the engine.

I hope this helps

From learning experience you haven't even witnessed the Argus yes. Give it a few more tanks or so and then you will see the power and runtime increase more. My engine took almost to gallons to really drop its balls. I have witnessed some tune issues but im not real use to the engine.

What fuel are you guys running in your Argus?
I was running sidewinder and was about to switch to Byrons but my LHS just bought some VP power master and I hear that is great fuel. I will have to wait for some warm days to try the fuel out, dont want to run car in the out side temps are inthe 40s.

They aren't real bad on fuel choice like some engines. I prefer Cold Fusion just because i get it easy and its great fuel.

We dont have any winter racing out doors. Its all indoor now here in the mid atlantic region. All i can do is just go out and just get motor time.

My low and high end adjustment screws doesn't feel like it has much tension when screwing. I believe this is throwing off of my tune. How do I make it such that my screws have more tension when I turn them.
