Okay guys, heres my 2 cents. I ran kbrl today with the argus. I had a total of about a half gallon on it before the race started. I didnt get as much time as I had hoped for practice so I had some trouble tuning for the first round. I will tell you these things are not going to come to life until they have a gallon and a half to 2 gallons. The engine felt too rich to me but if I leaned it out, it would lean bog. My temps were anywhere from 240 to 260 in 60-80 degree weather. Durring the 20 minute main, I did flame out simply because of the fact the engine isnt fully broken in. I got back in the race at the 10 minute mark and ran out of fuel on the last lap. Keep in mind, this engine still isnt fully broken in, so its going to run hotter and not have the full runtime. I had good top end, but it wouldnt top out because I still have quite a bit of pinch. I very impressed with the way that it ran, and if you guys are impressed with less then a gallon, just wait until you hit that 2 gallon mark. Keep in mind the carb is going to be a lot more touchy then a novarossi, os, ninja exc. Ive learned the best way to tune it is the bottom first. Once you can get a smooth idle, let it sit for 10 seconds and open it up. Make sure it doesnt load up or lean bog. The idle should drop right back down and stay there. From there, you can start tuning the top.

FYI, I was running an 0801 pipe, 6.5mm restrictor, OS P3 plug and torco fuel...

I ran mine today. About 3/4s of a gallon through it and didnt have any problems. I was going 10 mins plus on a tank and runnig just as good as the other motors on the track. Try a 7 mm insert. Personally I think these carbs are a piece of cake. Like you said get the bottom right and leave it alone until you lean the top and then go back and fatten the bottom. My temps in 50 degree weather never went over 220. 801 pipe, voodoo #5 plug

these are the EXACT differences between the WOT break in and the HEAT CYCLE break in methods....

Make full break in after you will see the engine performance as well.

I didnt say I had any problems with it, the engine ran great. It was a learning curve turning it in correctly and getting it broken in all the way. 7MM restrictor would have givin me more power, but I didnt need it. I still had plenty of bottom and top end, but I can tell it has the potential for more.

I would really suggest trying 7.0 restrictor. Three of us have all tried 6.5 up to 8. You might feel different, but none of us liked the 6.5. We have had the best luck from the 7.0. We are also using Torco 30%, I am running the 801 pipe. I did switch from the P3 to the Voodoo #5, but the P3 ran the same. Glad you liked everything.

We had some more good runs today locally. I had electrical problems in the main but was still going 10 minutes easily on fuel runs. Argus won Pro Buggy and took 5th and I think we had a 5th in truggy as well.

I have to agree with you. Ive never liked a 6.5 because it always made motors hard to tune. Out of curiosity what were the results and how did you guys like the 8.0 insert? Just curious.

Im going to try the different resrictors this weekend. Im thinking 7 would be better as well, but I want to get it fully broken in before I do anything else. Im sure ill be able to get 10-12 min out of it once shes broken in. Ill keep you guys posted.

Ran my Argus I bought from RcRenew today at the track this engine has tons of power and was very easy to tune. I was getting 10 min 40 seconds per tank in my truggy still a bit rich. Cleared everything with ease didnt have money for the 0801 but ran a 2013 and it ran awesome. Cant wait to try the 0801 pipe on it.

We did not have any issues with the 8.0. It ran good and did not have any tuning issues. Still got decent fuel economy. I just went to 7 to make it a little smoother band, which it did seem to help. I also done it for better run time. I really do not know if it helped the run time because I did not try a before and after. The 6.5 just did not seem to run as good in the ones that tried it and tuning was a little off.

On Jan 29, team driver DJ Hepler took 1st in pro buggy and 3rd in pro truggy at Thunder Alley in Wilson, NC. Both with Argus Engines !! Way to go DJ !!

On Jan 30, team driver Mike Webb took the win in pro buggy at Overcash Raceway !! Mike was driving an Argus powerd Durango. Argus Engines also finished 4th with Don Elliott and 5th with Jonathan Jenkins driving there Argus powered ZCARs.

All four were running the 7mm insert and 30% Torco Fuel.

I took an Argus apart today and am putting the timing numbers in my program. Quality looks awesome, very nice looking engine.

Has anyone been running one in a truggy if so how was the powerband?
