Today I am at the motodome in staples mn for some indoor nitro and this is the first time having the argus on the track and I must say I am pretty please. Its tuned up great and is pretty smooth on the track but still has some grunt to it.

so are we OK to use Novarossi plugs in these engines then?
i have a bunch of those in my toolbox but pretty sure i've run out of OS plugs
also has anybody used the 2047 pipe?
it has seemed a good all rounder on most engines i've tried it on
what about 2050 or 2060 pipes?

Good day for the Argus at Delta R/C in Antioch Ca. yesterday. Truggy expert Amain, Argus powered Losi 2.0s a 1st and a 6th.

The Argus ran great all weekend for me. Only had to go a hour here and there on the high speed needle between days and daily tempature changes. I have just under a gallon and was getting some good mileage. It had plenty of power to easily clear all the tracks obstacles with ease. And did I say this thing is smooth in a truggy. I love this motor.

There were 4 of us running the Argus this weekend at the Motodome in Mn. It was the first time running nitro this year and all of them ran great. Here is a clip of the track, for indoor this is the best place I have ever raced at. Only one Argus in this race as I ran the Argus in my buggy and kept the Orange head Alpha in my truggy, similar powerband.

So Rex you would compare the Argus to the Alpha Orange Head?

That is a great looking track. Wild looking building.

There's something not quite right about that vid..........................hmmmmmmm.

I figured it out !!!! The track marshalls aren't in a coma, or texting on their phones. I seem to always crash near the one that's watching the race at the OTHER end of the track.

Tell Mike he builds a great track.

I would say they are very close, the Argus should be a tad smoother with the heavier crank. Dan (rider313) was worried about it having enough bottom end but it was no problem making it to the top of that step up jump with a truggy.

You will notice the large fans on the opposite side of the buiding drawing the fumes away from the stand and pits. They race motocross and go karts there.

Yellow Pipe

What type of yellow pipe are they using in the vid ? I would like to look it up on the net.
Thanks

ok just had another run with this motor and still running the 2035 my run time has gotten better up to about 8 to 8.30 mins now still a little rich on the bottom... This motor really pulls hard all the way through the rpm looking forward to seeing how much life i can get out of this motor

Great to see everyone having good success with the Argus Engines.

As far as life, the engine on my buggy now has 6.5 gallons on it and I haven't changed rod or front bearing yet. I also know a couple more guys that have 5+ on their engines as well.

And as to what Rex was talking about on the powerband compared to an Alpha: We have had the Green and Orange head Alpha Engines in the past. From what we can tell the Argus falls in the middle. It has alot more bottom than the green head Alpha, but is smoother than the Orange head Alpha. It does still have plenty for a truggy though.

As one of "The 4" I was real happy with the Argus. I'm running the A52 with the Alpha 0801, a O'donnel 87T plug and 30% O'donnell Speed Blend Fuel and the motor was dialed.

Fought a leaky fuel tank that was screwing with my tune early on, but after getting the tank sealed up the tune was stable all weekend.

Now I am running this engine in a light car (JQ) and it has allot of mid-range power that comes on fast, but it is very responsive to partial throttle input (it is smooth running 1/3rd-1/2 half throttle position) so it is driveable that way. I'm also running an Ascendancy clutch with 2 carbon/.9 - 2 alum/1.0 springs that was also helping the driveability.

Given the fast that we were running in temps between 15-25(F) degrees all weekend (was 0 degrees at 8am on Sunday), it is a testiment to the engine that they ran as well as they did.

The pipe is a drain tile for farm fields made in yellow. They make the yellow for the top of the fence at baseball fields in the outfield. It can be a little hard to come by.
