What pipe and car? You can start by dropping restrictor sizes also.

with a 8mm and that pipe 9 minutes is most i would expect a fast driver to get. Drop down to a 6mm and the 801 pipe and the same fast driver can get over 10 minutes easily.

Try the 7mm, it's in most cases the sweet spot for my R8, might be for your A5 too :)

105 is not very hot, if you lean your engine to a good tune at 125 deg celsius you will get more power and runtime. I would take one .1mm shim out when using 25% fuel also.

ok i will try to lean hsn just a bit.if i remove 0.1 shim that will cause more stress to the motor???my engine seems to have very good power actually no other car can pass me in the straight, but it seems that i can lean the top end more.my track has a small straight.

Hi, I tried to change the conrod after 1.5 gallons so I tried to remove the pin but it is really stuck. I'm afraid to hit it any harder. I even removed both the clips. It doesn't move, any ideas?

Herrsavage 07-06-2015 09:17 AM

Why are you messing with the rod?

The piston pins are pretty tight in the Argus and Alpha and it takes some care to not damage anything. I have heard some heat helps, I personally have made a little cradle for the piston and press it out. Better than too loose, Go engines a few years ago came a bit loose and it ended up working the hole bigger in the piston.

R8 and R83

1 Attachment(s)
Sorry to not update everyone lately. I have not had the chance to race in awhile (that changes this Saturday. . brrrapppp), but wanted to share a pic of my truggy with the R8, and buggy with the R83.

My first race with the R83 went ok. It was still coming in (still is a bit) and in the second heat I was running really well, then it went rich and I ran out of gas. After that, it became more steady (richening only a little as I ran the 3rd heat and main). I did not finish well (my driving was BAD) but the motor ran great! I was pitting at about 8 1/2 mins on a big track, and I suspect it will do 10mins easily as it finishes breaking in. Love my Argus motors. I will share how everything with both motors goes this weekend.

Is common it will get rich when not fully broken in, just lean it a little when it happened to get the power back

NICE!! Congrats!!! Love that motor/pipe combo!

22Racer 09-13-2015 03:13 PM

I tried a short double bend 41032 on my truggy with the 0801 pipe on my .23 last race. It had great bottom and it didnt hurt the top much either, I liked it better that the std. 0801 header.
