I use the same fuel also. I just took mine apart to check it out and it seem to be nicely coated. I did not notice Nothing wrong with my engine at all.

Well, this last weekend at leisure hours in joliet illinois was the Finals for the midwest nitro series 2014 season. I Started 2nd in the b main in intermediat truggy, ran through the 15 min race to a easy win. Started 7th in the 20 min A main and finished 4th!!! This argus .23 and TB-1 pipe combo sure shined on leisure hours small indoor track! Not only was the engine torquey enough to clear the triple at half throttle, it also made 10 min on a tank of fuel! I one stopped the 20min A-main with fuel to spare at the end! ( we figured roughly 2 minutes worth!) This engine pipe combo is INSANE! A huge thank you to Rex at RW-MODS for sponsoring me for the season! Cant wait to see what next season ( and a freshly modded .23?) Brings! Thanks again REX!

Well I was also at leisure hours this weekend with the finals of the midwest nitro series. I was able to start 7 in the a main in nitro buggy which was good since i was setup to run outside and we ended up running inside so had to work on car all day. I ended up 3rd which i was happy with but i was leading most of the 20 min main just got caught up in some lap cars the last few mins. I was running my stock argus d52 motor which ran great all day and all season i couldnt be more happy with these motors. Really like to thank Rex at RW Mods for the great motor all year and for the great surport and service. I ended up 7 in the point this season which was good since i didnt make one race and i had 2 races i had servo failure and finished way in the back. These argus motors are great for the price and we had 2 in the top 10 in points againt a lot of big name motors. Thanks again Rex cant wait for next season and great motors.

argus R8 needle setting

Hi, whats the good tune for stock argus r8? Im currently at:

Hsn: 2 1/4 turn from fully close
Lsn: 3 turn from fully close
Idle at 0.7mm.

Still smoke come after out of corner. Run already at 14 tanks. It dropped its nuts at tank 12. Temp at 240 F. Plug argus t3, fuel o donnel 25%. Track short and tight.

Can anybody share their needle settings?

I do not do turns out, the lsn on the R8 should be out from flush .5-1mm. Hsn just in from flush. this is 30% 8mm restrictor.

The A5 in the Usa have the long lsn carb, same as the D52, .23, and some Alpha. Try the idle gap .7-1mm, lsn usually is .5-1mm in from flush, hsn just in from flush.

well, i finally got around to opening up my Argus .23 after having 5+ gallons threw it! every thing inside looks pretty good! Except for i noticed the back plate has some swirl/scratch marks on in? like something was rubbing against it? It obviously didn't affect performance, just curious to see if it was my wrong doing (ex, dirt in the engine?) or just something they do (ex, rod rubbing against the back plate)

rider313 10-13-2014 06:13 AM

depends on how bad it is but often times it is just the rod rubbing against it. If it is smooth it is the rod. If it has a scratchyness look in it, dirt could be a factor.

It just the rod that is normal all engines seem to do that really.

For A5 engine, usually how many turn in from flush for lsn after fully break in?

Usually the lsn is about 1mm in from flush. There is a bevel on the inside of the outer piece and it sits about even with the bevel.
