Had a great weekend at green bay! FINALLY fixed all the little mechanical gremlin's that have, to this point , put a damper on the season. Started 4th and finished 4th in the intermediate truggy a main! Was about a lap behind 2nd and 3rd. The 2nd place driver was an electric truggy, who some how managed to make the full 20min race! I was hoping he wasn't guna make it, lol. Can't wait for the next race! The .23 ran like a champ!

Kendall Welch was rockin the Argus engines last weekend. Rd 6 of the Mnrc at Full Throttle Kendall took both 1/8 Truggy and buggy. In the Buggy he ran a Rw modified R8/Orion 2058 pipe. In the truggy he ran a modified .23 and a Argus 2090 pipe. the 2090 will be available on the next Argus order in Oct-Nov.
Here is a short vid of the 3rd qualifier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Njt8nIQXp7s |

Well the Thunder Alley Gas Championships is complete for 2014. This year we had a great group of guys from AZ. My weekend had its highs and lows but my Tekno RC E-Buggy and my Tekno nitro Truggy both ran great all weekend. In truggy my qualifying was good but the front runners had a bit better pace and I found myself starting main day in the 5th position. Come main day I was ready for a long day with double A main events of about 20 minutes each. In both mains I had rather poor starts but in both mains my consistency and speed were good enough to get me on the podium for a 3rd place finish in the Expert Truggy class. I have to give a big thanks to the Castle Creations Inc. team for all of their support setting me up with the most reliable and best performing 1/8 scale electronics available. I would also like to thank Rw Mods for the great engine and all of his support, I ran the Argus R8 and it ran fantastic all weekend. Rex spent a good amount of time helping get me a motor that was reliable and performed how I needed it to to put me in competition with the best at the track and at the end of the weekend his time and hard work showed to pay off helping put me on the podium against the best guys at Gas Champs. I would also like to thank MKS servos for a great product keeping my vehicles responding quickly and accurately.
I ran my truggy with a modded R8 with 0801 pipe with werks plug #6 and 8mm restrictor on 30% nitrotane. Thanks Rex |

I just bought an Argus B52 .21 fully moded from Rex. This engine was easy to break in. The break in process went very smooth and the engine did not stop running once it started. This engine produces a lot of power. It has a lot of torque and top end is good. Dont forget this is just after break in and it will get better once all the metal pinch is gone. I was able to race it last weekend we had a cash race. The first race on the engine went very well. I qualified 6th in the A main and finished 5th. The engine ran great all day with no flame outs. With the engine being new just past break in it was able to keep up with all the big boys power wise. The power this engine puts out did surprise me a little bit. I have to thank Rex for doing a great job moding it for me.

update
this is an update of my r8 i got from Rex.
I took 3rd place in my point series race not bad for just starting buggy in july with a new car and engine to go with it. the engine has ran great all season long. if you see i was running faster than most people but on my last lap i had a flame out not do to the engine it was something i was fighting all year. and i finally figured it out today. almost had 11 laps in under 5 minutes i think but i flamed before i could cross the line lol. They had to run us with the e buggy guys most of the season but it was fun out doing them on the 5 pack. i quailed 2nd for the a main and ended up last then had to climb back up into position all over again. Great little engine we have here. sadly i did not get a video of the race my go pro was dead. http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8lb8cbzm.jpg |
agrus .23 and tb-1 pipe update. engine pipe combo now has a full 5 gallons through them and the engine is still running strong! Still has good compression and runs like a champ. this engine sure likes to run on the lean side i have noticed. temps around 250-260 or so, easily pulls a 14/50 gear ratio in my losi truggy at that tune. Finall outdoor race of the season comming up this weekend!Cant wait!
|
I should also add i have been running VP 30% all year and have had little problem with it. ill be interested to see what the engine looks like inside.
|
I wouldnt call it the lean side. I would say hot instead. On a hot summer day i get temps in the 280/290* range. Now this is with no high idling or pinging. If its properly tuned, and running/idling strong temps don't really matter.
