Just wondering why tht is? I have said before that I am a newbie and am wanting to learn as much as I can and want to pick quality fuels.

that is a terrible fuel product for a modified engine....it has the lowest threshold for detonation I have sen from any fuel...1 tiny misstep on the lean side and its sandblast city to your head button, and if your unlucky will drop the glowplug coil into the engine......I have had dozens of customers over the years lose their engines because of that fuel and its tendancy to detonate.....For a stock engine with stock compresion it does OK, but in a modified like mine its one of the worst you could choose.....

We recommend Werks,Bones , Byron's, S+W.........

Neal, I'll probably pick up a couple quarts of Byron's to get me through the break in since it's available locally. Is Race 3000 Gen2 okay?

I Am not sure, but I believe it is in the oil.....it works perfectly fine in a stock engine, but is unstable and detonates badly in the modified engines........

Also it is terrible for breakins, you will sit there for a year trying to get the pinch knocked out of a engine.....the synthetics used protect extremely well under lower loads and RPM...which works against breakin...However at high RPM's and loads the oil breaks down and leaves the engine very unprotected.........Nothing wrong with the fuel, but its not suitable for a high RPM, high compression modified race engine.....

yes iT IS OK....11% oil is great for breakins......However for racing I prefer a lower oil content..... Going from Gen 300 to Werks will feel like you just got the engine mdofied all over again.... Werks compared to that OD would blow your mind, you would swear you just dropped 50% nitro into that engine...SO if you think its fast now on OD, just wait till you see it on a fuel like Werks !

Sean. I've been rc'ing before Neal was born. He knows nothing about O'Donnel fuel. I found it is excellent under one and only one set of conditions, which is:

1). When my old joints are aching I smoke 4-5 joints of marijuana(medicinal of course)

2). Then I take 2- 50mg tablets of Viagra.

3). While I am waiting for the Viagra to kick in I start up my RC car on O'Donnel fuel so I can hear it go ping, ping, ping, ping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems to get me in the mode!

My guess to correct your flame out issue, is to open the idle gap up to around .7 mm, richen up LSN to drop idle and adjust HSN for top end. It will 2 stage idle but that's fine during break in.

Well at least I won't be wasting that half gallon of fuel!

I spoke with Neal, I am actually running Speed Blend 30 not Race Blend. Neal says it's marginally okay to have used so I'm not totally screwed. The head, plug and piston show no signs of detonation and still look new aside from a little oil residue that wiped right off. I'm going to grab some Byron's to finish up the break in, then it's on to Werks/Bones Brew.

Bill, I'm going to take your advice on the Gap/LSN settings...

Thanks!

The Speed blend wont really hurt the engine any like the Race Blend will.................So have no worries there...However I will say that the Speed Blend product is not likely going to give you reliable performance..Its ability to seal the crankcase is very poor, and will likely lead to all kinds of flameouts as well as dirt getting sucked into the front bearing........ When they developed the fuel they obviously never tested it in a engine like mine.....I know of guys who run that fuel with no issue i, however in my engines it seems to do nothing but cause flaemouts and early engine wear......sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but as a general rule avoid OD products for my engines, no OD plugs and definitely no OD fuel.....They may be fine products for a stock or RTR engines, but unfortunately are not suitable to my high compression, high RPM modifieds........

Okay, let's talk plugs. I have the Nova 6 in there still but I'm sure it will need to be replaced soon with the chubby needle settings. Of course I have like 5 or 6 OD 97T plugs sitting here.... I know the Nova plug is good, how about the Werks #6 or an O.S. P4?

Try a OS P4...........probably give you the easiest tuning !!!

Clocked BTTS gets my vote. Not from experience or knowledge though. Just appears to be a better choice for buggy.
