NOVAROSSI Engine thread....

So what is better for a buggy 4 or 7 port? I see alot of guys going with 7 port motors. I thought 7 port engines hsd more bottom end and better in truggy. I know pipe and clutch have alot to do with the way sn engine performs.

I run the Mito 4 port on smaller tracks and the Mito 7 port on larger tracks like LCRC. When i run the 7 port in Buggy, i use 41031 manifold, 6.5mm restrictor, 9901SS, and 25% nitro. When i use the 4 port just change manifold to 41021. Truggy i run 41031 manifold, 7.5mm restrictor, 9901 non super strong, and 30% nitro. I use the new C5TGN plug. love that plug.

Novarossi direct and absolute look like they're buying from italy direct, and Odonnel looks like he's allied with Amain.
So the former dropped their prices to make them the go-to places for novarossi.
This is ALL made up speculation, if you want facts, ask Chad Phillips or call Novarossi in Italy.

I am running a race this weekend that is doing 8 minute qualifiers, I am trying to figure out the best course of action to make 8 minutes. The best I have been able to do is around 7, maybe 7:15.
Here is my setup:
MBX-7R
Keep-Off 21-4
9901ss with 41021
I had the 6mm restrictor in the carb, I have now swapped to the 5.4 but haven't run/tuned it yet. The motor has about a gallon and a half through it since new.
Doing a search in this thread, there are some old posts with guys getting 10-15 minute run times, I am nowhere near that.
If I do stick with the 5.4 restrictor, what should my tuning strategy be to start? Just lean the crap out of it?
Thanks in advance.

I think it's a pretty simple though. Supply/Demand/competition. Supply has undoubted been steady and heavy. Demand, personally, seems to be less - I see more and more "other" branded motors at the track. Competition has exploded - once Nova was only through Odonnel, and he charged whatever he wanted.

Thanks Chad, I will put the 6.0 back in and work with that and see what I can get out of it. It seems that many are having about a 2 gallon break in period and then the engine comes alive? I guess I am almost there. I don't have the fuel economy gene in me. Leadfinger can be a problem sometimes. :O
