hi guys..
planning to buy a new engine..appreciate if you guys can give any input in this. got a deal with LHS clio p5 and plus.21 4btt wc about the same price. which one should i go with?..thanks |
If it were me I would do the Clio and have it modded. I love my modded p5. It just as fast as a o.s speed on the straits but still tons of torque for all the infield stuff. My btt was really good too but love the modded p5

Well in that case I'm sorry too, I didn't mean to come off as upset.
2058 is the "wonderpipe" people seem to like on every engine.. I don't have one myself but everyone keeps saying it's great on XZ-B, BTT, on anything.. and it's legal too :D |

hey guys, i have a keep off plus 4 .21 and seems that air is getting in and i can't tune it! I have noticed that when on throttle the tuning is ok and off throttle the engine gets lean... I try a lot of different settings on the carb , resetting the needles, try again, have my buddies check on it again in order to exclude the possibility I'm doing something wrong.
Front ball bearing is changed recently and i'm pretty sure that it's air insulation problem. Anyone having experience with this ? What i can do and what to check? |

Screws on the back plate, carb pinch bolt and head bolts. If all those are tight, you may have a pinched of cut o-ring. Back plate, pinch bolt O-rings ( one or both sides) carb o-ring. Make sure the head is sealed properly ( not cocked off to the side/ it is sitting flush all around). Fule lines, tank and lid seal, exhaust gaskets ( both) pressure line to the tank Could possibly be another bad front bearing..... Or the carb is the issue. Something in it, slide not sealing, main needle and housing ( loose or cracked) as well as the O-rings on the needles... Do you have any oil/fuel leaking or pooling..... |
yep

Well, there is only 4 different spots where air can get in to a engine. 5 if you count where it is supposed to come in:lol:

Hey Houston,
A while ago, some thread I dug up from 2013, you posted your recommendation for pipe/header for the P5XLT as below:

Buy or borrow em all and try for yourself ;)
Or by the right pipe and get the 2096/41021 :D Thanks! |
While we're on the subject of pipes and headers.....
What's a good combo for the p5xlt in a truggy? I've already got the 2096/41021 and was thinking about picking up something else for a little variety. How does the Dynamite 086 pipe set work? It's kind of tempting for 50 bucks. I'm not sure what manifold it comes with but it looks similar to the 41021. |

I was running the Nova 9886 SS / 41021 in my buggy with the P5XLT. Seemed to work fairly well, but the pipe got a dent, so I thought I might try something different.

Hey guys, opinions on crankcase caps? Are they really necessary? Can't I keep all dirt out of my engine if everything is run properly and cared for, without one of these caps? If its highly recommended, can I just install the cap and be done or do I HAVE to seal it up with sealant? Seems foreign territory at this point.
