I think you would have had better breakin results on the ground, with very easy throttle atleast another 1/2 gallon.
Hope this helped

Your right Ray, Its not good.
When running in my engines, I always use the bench. cover the head. The temps on this engine ranged between 90-105c during runin. To be honest, after 500ml the engine felt runin. At the 750ml, with the glow plug out it had no pinch at the top at all. I wasnt happy at that point but decided to put it in the car and take it to the local park and run some fuel through it and find a rich tune. The engine tuned OK and had plenty of power. Thats when I took it out this past weekand for a run at a race meet. The rest is history. its a bin job now. Even the head button is very very loose in liner which I dont like. Oh well as they say sh!t happens.

So you're saying after three litres of fuel your engine is in that bad of shape? The engine in question was an FMS right? That sounds pretty far fetched(crazy) unless a)you happen to get bad fuel (you stated you run byrons so probably not) b(your air filter is no where near as good as you thought it was c( improper break in and not preheating before firing engine

I have cranks on all types of engines that don't measure that small that have 6,7,8 gallons so this is by no means normal

Pm or email me if you have any Q's

Happy motorin',
Monty

I just striped the engine as I do after every race meet to inspect bearings and rod. After I removed the back plate I noticed the rod had alot of slop on the crank pin. I removed the crank and measured the pin.
Pin @ TDC 4.81mm
Pin @ 3oclock 4.92mm
.10mm out of round

Whats your thoughts on this? To me its not good.
and FYI , i never try to push any real power out of a novarossi engine until it has had at least a gallon of of fuel ran through it properly

OK so my P5X ebmod busted a block this weekend, one of ears on the
block is cracked off. This was an 05 EbMod REX P5X that I got brand
new just a few months ago and only had 2.5 gallons on it.

First question, will a regular block work, or did EB used to make mods
to these blocks as well? Second Q, will a later gen P5 block work if
there wasnt mods made to the original? I figure the newest model P5
block wont work but maybe the gen just prior to this will. Any help
would be great as I really want to run this thing some more, I think
it was the fastest motor Ive ever had.

I love p5's. You should be able to change out the case to any of the p5x or newer cases, the bearings are the same, not any changes that would prevent you from putting a new case in the older p5x.

I thought that might be the case, my only concern is that the original block was modded to match the sleave. I guess Ill know once I tear it apart tonight.

Tom, Ed didn't modify the block. Not sure about the backplate though since he did modify OS backplates.

Thanks man, from what I could tell when I first got it, the backplate looked untouched. A freind has a worn out newer gen P5 that I can take the block from so Im hoping it will be just that easy. That friggin sky launch at the hut must have done it. I guess Ill double it now.

Hello I have a question about the Novarossi n21bf crank. Long story short, I snapped off the end of the crank when I was trying to get off the inner clutch bell bearing. The motor still has a lot of metal pinch and compression. Is it worth replacing the crank in it or just get rid of the motor?
Also I have tried doing a quick search for a new crank and all I'm coming up with is a crank for a Novarossi n21b. Is this the same? I think it is but want to make sure.

if you are going to replace the crank you might as well put a 15009 75$ , 15009t 95$ , 15007t 105$ or 15009HT 110$ and get wayyyyyy more power

just lmk if you need anything

I have a Nova Plus 4 and need to reposition the fuel inlet. Am I safe to loosen the nut and rotate it 180*. I believe I had to do it on my P5 but can't remember. Thanks.
