If anyone has gone from the Btt to the keep off, how did they compare to each other?

Piston/Sleeve - same parts number
Crank shaft - same parts number

Don't see how they could be any different really. Bearings and cosmetics, basicly.

What do most guys use in the Btt or the Keepoff. Front and rear ceramic or front steel and rear ceramic?

I chose the BTT WC because I believe the Keep-Off engines have that really expensive offset bearing. As for bearings I cannot say from my short amount of Nitro experience.

Michael.

Reports from several Sources is that the keep-off has better snap to it that the BTT. I think both Clockwork and Murnan have said this, so it is more to it than just cosmetics :-)

There is alot more to an engine than piston/sleeve and crankshaft

we all know there is allot more.. the block design is only different to receive the new bearing... the bearing gives less resistance so it should help spool up faster.. from what i was told the timing is all the same

Less rotating mass ;)

I decided to go with the keep off 21-4. I was also considering the Lucky 7 tuned. But I would rather give up a little speed for the smooth linear power. what pipe header is recommended for the keep off?

Look at what the big boys r running Vinny , either 9901 or 2096 with 41021

Pipes

I've never run things just because everyone else runs them. I make my own decisions based on testing the pipe and header combos.

The 2096 is a great pipe although I rarely use it, It seems to be the most well rounded pipe, but I typically run the 9853 41001 header on smaller tracks or tracks with tough to clear jumps, and for bigger tracks the 9886 41001 header is really good. I ran that combo at Thornhill with a Clocked btt wc, It's big wide open track and flowed nicely and allowed me to run the engine right on tune and not too lean and make silly top end. it was just easier on the engine and stayed consistent and cooler than 3 chambered pipes do. The 2096 runs great but wants the top leaned slightly too much to make higher rpm's. Not really a big deal but not ideal for tuning. The 41029 header works great too and seems to fit better on most narrower chassis and I've never been disappointed in the 41021 although is sometimes does not fit very well in several chassis. I had a 9901 pipe for a while and it just seemed to restrictive and slow overall. I tend to drive smooth and like a bit more punch than most to keep me driving harder.

Vinny,
I am assuming you know Anthony M. He likes the 9901/41021 combo and seems to stick with it everywhere I have seen him run at. I like the 2096/41021 combo since i am not as smooth on the bottom end with my trigger finger as I should be.

The rear bearing on my Keep off needs replaced. Is there any aftermarket companies that make one or do I have the buy the nova bearing?

I don't think an aftermarket bearing exists for the keep off. I would love to be wrong. To be honest I have not seen where to get the Nova 4 port keep off bearing. I don't own a keep off I was looking to see how available that rear bearing was. It's kind of strange that Nova would change that bearing and then never see it for sale. Amain for example doesn't even have parts for the btt or keep off. absolute usually has select parts but they are full price every time.

I was wondering how many gallons went through your keep off before it needed to be replaced.

kgombe 08-05-2013 02:17 PM

the Keep off uses a bearing that is Patented to Nova... so you are gonna have to buy a Nova
