but trust me... its there.. if it isnt there then you bought the engine used and the person took them out.. you should have .8 clearance, one bronze .2 sandwich between 2 aluminum .3

if none is present get some before you run your engine and 30% is fine..

Right. yeah it does appear to have some Alum shims on there. Now I looked at them closer, i thought it was part of the button. thanks!

I do not take any side on this dicussion, as this is not up to me.

On a general note, if an engine only has 0.5mm shims, it do not say anything abaout the engines compression. Squishband could be altered, cumbustionchamber size and shape could be altered, piston could be taken down +++

I didn't even look or remember taking the shims out but look at the case I sent you if you need more. They might still be in there

I don't mind guys going back and forth about stuff. When it gets personal, its not fun anymore. I use l7 products on my cre engine, along with many other guys for sure. Neil has top notch customer support, that alone is worth the money's spent at cre for many. These guys are obviously passionate about what they do. As with anything, its a competitive market and sometimes things are said in the heat of the moment. I'm guilty of saying stupid sh!t now and then, but have apologized 99% of the time. Anyway, carry one and keep the shots above the belt, otherwise, you make yourselves and your company's look sub-par.

Of course squish can be tall and still have high compression ! but that is not the case with my engines..

From my original question I got far more than I bargained for. A little bot of info and a lot of quality entertainment.

I spoke to the guy who has my engine and he says the crankshaft is in very fine condition and noted that running it in with the installed from factory white 6mm venturi being a major factor and that it has ran too lean.

I temped that engine non stop with a much more temp pen and handometer test and it was never that hot so i'm still at a loss really.

Send it to rayAracing for a sleeve resize. 30$ and it will be as good or better than new.

Just got 2 BTT's, one Toro Nero and a 9901/29 pipe set from a XRAY team member for whom I break-in his engines (Ninjas now). Don't know if there are too worn out to run ok, but I will for sure give it a try :). The crank pin on the Toro is only 4,85 mm, so as far as I know, its damn close to be too small. Time will tell :)

So what is the best/most common practice on air filter changes. Pre-oiled, not pre-oiled, what type of oil to use? Proper cleaning of the fiilter assembly? This seems to be the main problem with engines getting hurt, just curious what everyone does? Does Nova have a guideline?

Sorry, I'm no longer part of the Lucky 7 engine. I have nothing to do with Joe Alessi or Lucky 7 RC. The pictures at question are from dirt ingestion, from where, I don't know. A complete inspection of the engine would need to be performed.

Joe asked me for the crank shaft part number to use for the tuned engine. This was the same crank I used back in 2003-2005 for my Team Mod P5's and 421B's. I don't think the Lucky 7 engine will use this crank, and the engine will not include the EBMods Power Plates.

***Air Filter Tip***

When your engine is at idle fuel reflects off the crank and pulses back out the carburetor. If you run an engine without the air filter, you can see this. (Please don't run your engine without the filter) On the dyno it's easy to watch and monitor. Please keep this in mind, when you're upside down, the fuel will flow down the air filter boot making it's way into the filter. Once you are flipped back over the fuel washes the filter out, and the engine will suck this dirt in. If your engine pops and backfires once your flipped back over this is usually a sign that dirt was sucked through your engine.

Also running on real dusty tracks if you use a small bead of grease around the housing sides this will help prevent dirt ingestion.
