Werks B5, Novarossi Elite 5, Alpha A852, etc.. Doesn't have to be some expensive Nova 7 port.. Especially for someone newish to nitro..

That's what I'd do. Those are all good ~$200 or less truggy engines.

Can you even buy a P5 anymore? I was sure they were discontinued.

A legend 7 should be around $250. I don't think that's considered expensive - especially not in racing.

Herrsavage 09-28-2015 05:46 AM

It's not peanuts..(and racing is gratuitously expensive, much more than it needs to be...) Fancy clutch, matching pipe, and a few spare plugs and you're looking at 400 bucks..

Guys are talking about getting Elite 5's for $160..

An Argus or Alpha 23 would be another good option.. Rex at RW Mods sells'em..

kgombe 09-28-2015 06:19 AM

nice plug......

I would say the same for Monty as well.. !

the big online stores cannot match our support or technical expertise, not even close ! and nitro engines are something that often do require technical support....

kgombe 09-28-2015 06:33 AM

smile a while .. it was being sincere...

Its pretty close... after looking at a bunch of exploded views it seems like the Elite 5 is almost a cross between a plus-4t and a Clio. It's got the cnc domed piston like the Clio and the same 15010 crank as the plus-4t... which is also very similar to the 15007t, but just has a little more polishing done to the inside the barrel.

Maximo 09-28-2015 05:50 PM

the Elite 5 has a team piston as well as the crankshaft has more intake timing as opposed to the P5...makes a little more power then the P5...

My $209.00 tuned version has the crank flowed as well as the sleeve plus a small increase in exhaust timing...... gives it a little extra zing that the stocker just doesn't have !

+1

Easily the best truggy engine for the price.... pair it up with an Ofna 053 and you have a killer truggy setup for well under the price of a lot of the Nova engines alone. Its really easy to tune also... ran it this past weekend at our last outdoor race and I barely had to mess with the needles all day.

Audiobahnaholic 09-28-2015 07:27 PM

You sell the elite 5 modded for $209? How would it run on an ofna 086?

Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap ! they run good !

the OFNA 086 makes good power, not the smoothest or most linear, but when its on its really on !

IIRC the modded version is $280.

the tuned is also modified, just not as extensively.... tuned has a modified crankshaft, enlarged exhaust port and some flow work inside the case..the full modified has overall sleeve timing adjusted as well as all 5 intake ports adjusted as well as more extensive crankshaft and case work...... The tuned was aimed to have noticeably more performance then stock but without getting into more expensive and time consuming timing modifications....

Audiobahnaholic 09-28-2015 10:29 PM

At that price I'm thinking about getting one to throw in the box as a spare. Probably going to run the reds r7 evoke as the normal racer. Would the elite 5 perform better on the ofna 086 or the reds 2104 pipe

Farmboy24 09-29-2015 07:09 AM

Hey thanks a lot thinking of going with the elite 5 now just to figure out what manifold and pipe I need with it 😖

Socket 09-29-2015 12:51 PM

ICYMI: Novarossi prices plummeted at absolute hobbyz. Not sure if it has to do with them importing directly from Novarossi or what. As well, Amain is set to work with novarossi USA directly. Wondering if this is because of pricing?

Anyways, the price of a keep-off just got STUPID cheap.

xyzyx00 09-29-2015 10:34 PM

just got back from the track w my new elite 5 hehe...

spent the last 2 days breakin her in, she got to see dirt for the first time today :)
continued my breakin process w a 9901/7mm/41029 for a few tanks just cuz i wanted a comparison.
switched over to a 2096 and a 021/8mm restrictor and omg this thing friggen rips!! night and day difference over the 9901/7mm. not even fully broken in yet, still has some pinch but im already amazed. best engine for your money right now imo :) bottom/mid is amazing- havent been able to really get on the top end yet but so far so good. im also running a buku clutch, komp shoes, 1.5,1.75,2

I agreed, how come so cheap?

Chad Phillips 09-30-2015 04:15 AM

We lowered the prices because the margins to the customer were insane from previous importers. Nova did not change their quality of the engines. So now we help the consumers by making it affordable to have the best engines on the market. :D

Interesting. I saw you guys are now personally importing them - but then Amain signs a deal with novarossi USA?

Very interesting.

Flashpoint is selling the Mugen Beat Line of Novarossi's at a lower price now also.

Your flash banners on the site indicate you are a distributor like its a new thing. So to me distributor means selling to the shops. For Novarossi you are selling to hobby shops for resale as the channel too?

Just a question on that.

Anyways:

I got a new Top Elite 8 and thinking of the Mito 4 or 7 as another motor. This would be for a buggy.

I previously ran the Rex P5X 2005 production motors.

It's so track dependant it's hard to suggest a motor on here.

Nice! Nuts should be dropping any moment now :D

Whichever buggy I end up building this winter I think I'm going with the Elite 5/2096 combo as well. Ran good in the truggy, but 9853 suited it a little better I thought.

You are correct. Hobby Shops can contact us and we will set them up on our site. All they do is log in and their pricing will be displayed.

Regarding the Mito 4 or 7.. IF you mainly run on tight small tracks get the mito 4 with 41021/9901. It produces a lot of bottom end and mid. Also use the 7mm restrictor. IF your track is wide open use the mito 7 with 41031/9901 and 6.5mm restrictor. Being its a worlds year next year. I use 25% nitro with these set ups. 30% will make the engines the little more crisp.

Chad - you see the pricing from "Novarossi direct" - which changed names from REX usa?

Novarossi just got a whole lot cheaper..! They have Mito 7's for $239!

No idea why the name change.

those are steel bearings. I am not sure why they are that cheap. maybe he is blowing them out.

Looks like the 7 port mito is only $259 with ceramic rear bearing.

190mph 10-03-2015 07:03 PM

I was watching on ebay the Mito 4 split up into parts new in 7 auctions before seeing the better improved prices a few days ago. Well figured out not worth it and hard to win the complete engine.

Anyways the 7 auctions added up to $315 + shipping. I looked at the bidders and one guy bought 5 parts for $217 + shipping. He did not bid high enough on the Cooling Head and the Engine Case with Steel Bearings.

LOL
