If you are leaving it stock, I would agree with helivaguy and go with the 053 or 086. The JP4 also isn't too bad but definately not as strong as the JP1 or 2. If you want to get it race ported, I ran one the last 2 years with a JP1 and had more power than I needed and got between 9:30 and 10:30 consistantly so the rumors of the JP1 not being fairly fuel efficient are not totally true when talking about full race porting. It is definately not the best pipe out there for milage but it isn't that bad either. The P5's I have done with the same race porting as mine but ran pipes like the 9901SS/41021 or 9853SS were getting 11+ minutes so again there is even more room for improvement but fo r someone who has pipes already, there are certainly alternatives available to get the performance with run times with the equipment you already have. You can get a full blown P5 with a front ceramic for around the same money as a stock plus 4. Let me know if you are interested in something like that

Hello!

I'm looking to buy an Plus4 Limited, and i was wondering which pipe would give more performance/fuel economy, the 9901/41021 or the 9853 with the same manifold.

Thanks

Mark I like what you had to say about the P5, what pipe and header combo would you reccomend for use in a losi truggy-mainly looking for a smooth powerband and good runtime

Thanks,
Jason

The Plus 4 has better crank timing profiles than the P5 which will also make it perform better up top. Both engines work well in a truggy with the proper setup. However, a nicely modified P5 will put perform the Plus 4 in every department including run time and will last as long or longer than the Plus 4. My race ported P5 costs about the same money as a stock Plus 4 and will have more power all around, will be very easy to tune, will get 10-12 minutes of runtime in a truggy and will last 12 gallons if treated properly. My race ported Plus 4 runs side by side with the P5. I have both engines in stock in either stock or modified trim so if you are interested, shoot me a pm.

Jason- It depends what you consider smooth is. The last engine you bought from me was a GRP .21 with a non tuned case, GRP .28 crank with the turbo cuts and a GRP .21 onroad piston and sleeve. That thing was fast If you are looking to get another one from me, I would definately go with the P5 with full race port and 9901SS and 41021 header for smoother delivery. If you are looking for a little more low end punch, the 9853SS with the same header is a good choice and if you are looking for all low end and midrange, the 41020 header on either pipe will be way to go.

i have a plus 21-5k in my ofna mbx4 and it flies!!! i love the nova engines, only downfault to this particualr and some others is having to use a bump start for it, no pull string or rotostart parts for this engine!!! i would LOVE to have a roto start or even electric start lol.

What are people runing for tuned pipes on the P5XS? I run the Dynamite 086 with good results but I want to try something else if I can get better performance out of it.
