i use the 6.5 insert and power masters fuel in a serpent. is this fuel any good?

do a little test....fire your engine up on the starter box, get it to a steady idle, then spray nitro spray right behind the flywheel...just a little spritz....see if the engine stalls or not.........

Could be a leaky front bearing.....When you last ran at the Hill your engine was running rich.

the ultra low heads run pretty hot , i have personally seen two VERY big name nova 100% factory drivers run their engine at well into the 290°+ range

Just for reference, what does this do?

My Plus-4btts pretty much runs all the time at 260 and I feel like their is for sure more tune left in it. I was well more than 4.5t out on the LSN and still running 245 - 260. I do not doubt 290 to get optimum power for sure!!!!!

Hey all,

Just a quickie really,

Running a nova plus 4 btt in a MP9, using a 9901 pipe and 41021 header with a c6tg plug jvd clutch and 13t bell.

My endpoints are set and the carb doesnt fully open 6.5m venturi running 25% fuel.

Now my query, I have the idle gap set a 0.6m so thats good.

At the weekend is was hot and my engine wouldn't settle nicely on a idle no matter what i did went rich LSN then Leaner LSN no change richened out the top and repeated etc...

It ran but wasn't purring, also after 7.5mins i was on vapour! Now the engine is around 22 tanks old now. Always preheat before starting too.

I tried the base settings that i got off here and that was way too lean was running on just on the box so just some points to clarify -

Base settings for the engine?

what sort of tune are people putting on these I'm not an expert at tuning but I've got a rough idea which is why sunday was so strange?

my HSN is 3.75 out

LSN is 5 1/2 out..

Sorry i forgot that bit!

all i will say is check your fuel delivery system

no newer novarossi i have encountered has liked to be 5.5 turns out on lsn and have an "in balance" carb

I dont know where my HSN is from FLUSH, but because I heard someone talking about the "PERFECT" LSN, I check mine just the other day and it was 4.1 - 4.2 out from flush, and what I heard was optimal 4 - 4.25

jnorwood_losi 05-29-2012 04:04 PM

My Bonito LOVES to run at 275+, and my BTT has been about 255 or so, but I still have it just a touch rich cause its new.....they like it a little warm

it will tell ya if your front bearing is sucking in air/dirt and/or blowing out crankcase pressure

should stay stable if all is good or idle up a touch if it leaks or die out if its really f'ed up

Out from flush. Really ? Please explain. All my nova's run perfect and none are out from flush on bottom. Unless he meant out from being bottomed in.

jnorwood_losi 05-29-2012 05:09 PM

I meant from all the way in....not flush. Sorry for the confusion

CanyonCarverR1 05-29-2012 05:49 PM

Do you guys running the 4BTTS set your EPA to fully open the carb? I know this is going to be track dependant. I'm just trying to learn more tricks for extending run time.
