probably not even fully broke in and yes they change tune quite a bit during break in

zixxer- i have seen 100's if not more than a few thousand novarossi engines on the inside and very very occasionaly do i see what you are talking about . as far as the c5q , i believe it is a 5 intake port design just like the p5 with a tri turbo exhaust . lots of power

Default Novarossi S21P5XL

hey guys i just bought the new Novarossi S21P5XL. i have been a die hard nova fan and have had great luck with the 3port bf21's. i bought the p5 for motorama because it has been a larger track layout in the past.(i didnt have the cash for the plus4) . will i see a big diff compared to the 3ports power. how is it compared to the RBS5 ?
i also have ran this motor for awhile as well ? do you think it will hang with the plus 4's if i drive well.
THANKS

well i have ran the RB S5 before and it was a very good engine..i had it worked by RB Mods and it was a beast afterwords as well and would go 9 min with a 086/long header. but i do think the P5 is stronger everywhere(in stock form)...and i have not driven back to back with the plus 4...all i can say is the plus 4 is smoother. I like the P5 alot though..and might like it even more in a week or so.....right Monty

Default It's my favorite

I love p5's. Perfectly strong torque, excellent midrange, and the top end depends on gearing. With so much torque and midrange if the track is large then go up one tooth on the bell it will fly, but for most small to medium tracks it's fine. I ran it with the 086 nova pipe and the short round or bent header for years, best fuel mileage,,,, but i like the 9853 ss nova pipe on it with the short round header now. It lets you run it slightly on the rich side and it stays strong through the long main without getting lean at all. The best thing about this engine is that it shuts down from full speed quickly to navigate the technical sections. If tuned correctly it will make your buggy easy to drive by clearing the jumps easily and staying consistent without wheelspin. Just don't run it too lean or it will spin the tires and make you feel like your having to be too careful. It will go from mild to wild with the needles. and that good. Oh yeah it outlasts your car. I had an old one that wore the car,777, out before it ran into the river full speed and dissapeared at 11 gallons....Long story....Never even opened the rear cover. Just flushed it with denatured often, and oiled it....Marvel is a mystery.....I think I'm obsessed with novarossi engines....

The only thing that has changed is the shape of the head. Everything else internally is the same. The P5 should work as good or better than the GRP. I found the P5 to be stronger on the bottom end but alot of that will depend on the pipe, tune, clutching, gearing of the vehicle and the conditions you are running it in. If you were happy with the GRP, you will be as happy or happier with the P5. If you need more power all around, you can always look to the FMS or a .28 to fill the gap.

The FMS is a wicked piece but nothing alittle mod work on the P5 can't fix. The milage are pretty comparable on both engines but that will also depend on all the variables that go into the engines overall performance ie: pipe, tune, clutching, gearing, conditions, weight of vehicle, throttle discipline etc. For what you would pay for a stock FMS, you can have my full race ported version of the P5 which will run very strong, get over 10 minutes with the proper setup and will last into the 10+ gallon range if taken care of properly.
