I'd like to say thanks to Ron and Shane our NZ Werks dealer for the great motors over the weekend of our regional championship here in Auckland, I was very happy to place 2nd in buggy and 9th in truggy (had a breakage in the final).

Running the alloy 4 shoe werks clutch and a B5 pro in each car they both ran well all weekend, just one flame out after fueling in the pits in buggy.

here's a short vid of the start of the buggy final, i'm 4th on the grid and the car punted on the white jump midway through the first lap lol.

What's in the Pipeline for Werks?

So what's "In the Works" for Werks engine wise? Been a while since we saw something new with the B5 or B6 engine lines.

Congrats on the results and thank you for running our equipment! Sorry to hear about the one flame out that you experienced. If it was coming out of the pits I've often found that is caused by a slightly rich bottom end combined with a low idle speed. If you ever experience that again try leaning the LS 1-2 hours and richening you HS 1 hour to slightly change your needle balance. Again though congrats!

Piston sleeve sets are the same.
The difference in Pro Series vs Standard internally is mainly in the crank and ceramic main bearing.

A-Main would be your best bet I'm thinking.

EDIT: I just checked A-Main and I see they are on back order sorry.
They should have some more soon, as Werks are continuously receiving stock from Italy (and they just got a big order in quite recently).

The JP3 and 2060 pipe will work ok with the B5 but really the best is our 2058 which ironically a lot of people find to be the pipe of choice with their OS engines lol!

grizz1 05-30-2014 01:31 AM

+1 on that.
Guys are loving the 2058 pipe on just about everything down here - OS, Nova, RB and most Taiwanese engines too.
Increased smooth power and run time is the usual report back.
Plus they have a wicked cackle too :-)

Jaz240 05-30-2014 06:12 AM

The 2 werks pipe (2058,2013) are just about the top 2 pipes for any engine. 2058 for buggy and 2013 for Truggy. Its a pleasure to own just 2 pipes that I know will work really well with just about any engine. The days of owning 12 different pipes is over.

What's the factory needle settings for this engine? Or a good starting point?

Slide set open with the idle stop screw 0.5mm with reducer out. HS and LS needle set to flush. That gives you a safe, rich point from which to start tuning. Fire engine up and blipping throttle for a few minutes warm it up. Then let come down to idle, check idle speed. If idle is low, LS is rich, lean 1-2 hours, blip throttle, let come back to idle and check again. If idle is high, LS is lean, richen 1-2 hours, blip throttle, let come back to idle and check again. Using the above adjust LS until you have a steady, smooth idle. Then put car on track, do 2 laps to heat saturate the chassis/engine and then check top speed on straight. If you need more top lean HS 1-2 hours, check speed again on straight. Once you feel that you have the HS set properly to give you the top end performance that you need come into the pits, blip throttle, let come down to idle and check the idle speed. It will now be high because you leaned the HS which affects the overal fuel supply (so it also leans the LS at the same time). Richen LS 1-2 hours, blip throttle and let come to idle, check. Keep doing that until you have a smooth, steady idle and then your engine is tuned. KISS system, you should be able to tune any engine using the above system in about 10 minutes.

how are the weeks engines how do u compare them to a o.s engine or nova they are good carbs and quality ??? considering the b6 to try something new
how is the reedy 121vr comprare to werks?

Werks 06-06-2014 09:45 AM

I think quality wise you will find that our engines are on par with all of the other Italian made engines out there. In comparison to the Reedy I would say ours are a step up. Engine wise though for buggy you are going to want a B6 and you are posting in the B5 forum ;-)
