Maybe those d8 clutches are crappy but that's still far off, at sea level I run MAX 3 hours in from flush, so unless he's like a mile under the surface of the planet he shouldn't be going in to much more then that n he's at like 4x that lol just makes me laf, in a good way no offense to OP.

what pipe were you using? You should be running a werks 6 with a 2013 or 2057 or 2058 pipe for the easiest set up!

from there you should check compression by holding the engine in your hand out of the car, holding the flywheel see if the engine tilted to the side can hold itself up, u will have to spin the flywheel to the spot where it gets tight before u tilt it, what you want it for it to hold itself up, if it doesn't then you atleast want it to have enough pinch to have it up for a second or 2. If it can't do that then it needs a pinch.

I just hope you go to flush n everything's good again.

lol I was trying to be nice...:D

Once again, thanks alot to Ron and you guys. Seem to understand whats going on now. I went ahead and put all the needles to flush and will take it out to the track wednesday. I took a look at the shoes and they still have alot of life in them. What kind of idle gap do you guys run? I've been running the gap at .5mm.

Also, how do you guys exactly tune the engine when starting from flush on both needles?

Thanks for the help
Eddy

.5mm idle gap. When I started from flush on both, I slowly leaned the low-speed needle while going up and down the straightaway (had the track to myself). As I noticed it getting crisp on the bottom and still blowing smoke, I slowly leaned the top-end needle bit by bit. Once I was finally done with the tune, I slightly richened the low-speed needle by an hour or so.

That should get you pretty darn close.

get engine up to temp first "200" and above degress I like to run like 3/4-full tank of fuel THEN I adj. the LSN until the engine will idle on its own with a smooth idle...then run it around a little more bring it in check idle again if all is good I start leaning the HSN until the engine pulls down the straight like I want it to...then re tune the LSN for a smooth idle usually end up richening the LSN a couple ticks and thats all folks :)

The other day I had an issue with my B5.It flamed out aprox 10 seconds after refueling.Did it 3 times in a row.I would go out for warm up,come in and get topped up,hit the same section of the track (aprox 10 seconds after topping up)and it would quit.Fire it back up and would be fine for the rest of the run,Any ideas? This is the first it has happened.

slightly rich on the LSN?...not clearing it out after being refuled?...

@Ryan +1
Also dont forget to blip your throttle while fueling and before your pitman drops you so the motor can clean out.

Well I took the B5 out to tune today. And I was able to drop the temp about 20 degrees. The highest I got the engine to run was about 251. Rann and idled real good. Does running Werks fuel cool the motors down? I've heard VP fuel is very clean and works really well too?

Thanks
Eddy

Powermaster is good stuff.

The Werks fuel does run pretty cool but a very clean crisp burn, and the lube package leaves nice oil on the internals. Also the Werks plugs last longer than any other plug we have used.

fuel

talking about fuel the only options i have in the local area(newcastle Australia) are Nitro X or AT racing fuels does anyone have any experience on which one is better

I am running a b5 with 30% werks fuel. when I go down the stright at the track the idle hangs for a bit, and there is not alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust, the motor is just screaming. So I think it sounds lean, but the temp only says 204. Does werks fuel not smoke alot? as long as the temp is fine should it be ok? I really dont want to hurt the motor!

Don't tune by your temp. Only tune by temp if your having problems with the engine getting too hot. My B6 runs about 210 max on a hot day. I use Byrons 30%. if it runs on, I'd richen the top a little.

Thanks eddy I always had the impression that in order to get the most power out of your engine it had to be about 250

Negative, your engine will tell you how its running (as Ron would say) lol.
And also it won't hurt to check your engine with other temp guns just to be sure.
