Ah, my mistake kgombe. Thanks for the correction. I had read somewhere else on the forum that HB was 32mm flywheel. Shows what happens when you believe someone else's info sometimes . It doesn't help that neither the instructions or the parts listing actually tells what size the flywheel is. Guess you gotta do it the old fashioned way.....why hello there mister ruler.

those things still exist... LOL

The HB kits are a little confusing as they can actually use both the 32mm and 34mm flywheel. If you run the stock engine mount you can use the 34mm. But then I have heard about a lot of people complaining that when they flat land the car that the flywheel hits the ground and conks out the engine. So they use the 32mm to avoid this. Then lol, if that was not confusing enough they make an optional engine mount. That engine mount actually positions the engine a little lower than the stock one so... with that one you have to use the 32mm flywheel or put shims under your mounts to raise things up! Hence for most people with HB cars I think that the easiest thing to do is to just run the 32mm version as unless your starter wheel is worn out it should not have any problem contacting the smaller diameter flywheel. Hope that helps clarify things

Sheesh more info to blow my mind! So if I buy a Werks pro clutch for my upcoming D8T, I should just go with the 32mm one?

the issue is the original D8 was a 4mm Chassis which was fine with the 34mm... then they made the HARA which had the 3mm chassis and a taller engine mount to compensate... but when people just bought the chassis to upgrade they own car they had no idea that you needed the higher engine mount... so the optional mount was not really an option it was made for the HARA chassis which is 1 mm thinner and the mount is 1mm higher... not to confusing... also before the HARA you had BCE and Fioroni with their 3mm chassis which cause the problem...

Thank you very much Kgombe, that's very helpful. Guess it's the 34mm flywheel kit I want then.

correct... just make sure you have the right engine amount to go with the chassis

I'm ordering a whole D8T kit so I'm sure all will be fine. ;)

Oh btw for those of you running a B5 with 2013 pipe in their truggy, what weight Werks pro clutch are you using? Light or medium? Or should I just get both? :D

Ah ha, now I finally get a clear explanation/understanding of what's behind all of this. Thank you!

i never ran the B5... but most use light.... for me i use medium almost all the time... i have the light weight if the track just needs some serious torque to get over some jumps.. or its very high traction...

to be safe go with light weight.. you won't be let down.. and get some carbon shoes with it also... run 2 carbon with green springs and 2 aluminum with gold springs..

Zao18 12-09-2011 02:46 PM

Thinking I should buy both . The question is, for both the light and medium, should I run that shoe/spring setup? What are the advantages of that setup anyways? A little smoother than an all-aluminum setup?

yup smoother and helps keep the build up of aluminum on the inside of the clutch bell down...
