I Donīt know if this is the right thread.
But I Wanna buy a new Werks engine either B5 or B6.

I have recently run with Novarossi N21R, and I really like that engine, it have the right amount of power for my driving style, but not good runtimes:(
(I use it in both buggy and truggy)

So which Werks engine should i buy, to get the most reliable engine with best runtimes?

Thanks

You can use the B5 with 2013 pipe for truggy and the B6 with either 2013 or 2057, the 2057 is smoother than the 2013 with great top end and @+11min run times(with good tune). The B6 have a linear power(less wheel spin) and killer top end. This is your Rx, now go get them, lol

yes the B5/2013 and the B6/2013 or 2057 in buggy
if your looking for the same feel as your N21R then you probably want the
B6 in both as its a really smooth engine.

I ran a N21R for about 3 races. Great bottom end but no top end coming out of the 3 port design. Ended up screwing the rod and breaking the skirt off the piston looking for a little more top end...it aint there to be had!
Im a torque freak...so I chose the B5 for my buggy. I just saw the B5 with a 2013 pipe in a truggy...Scarry torque in HB D8T. I'll be looking at a 2057 pipe for sure!
Ron can put you in the right direction on the Werks engines. You'll be a happy camper when you do make the change!

Yeah I hope i will:)

I want to run the same type of engine in both buggy and truggy, because in worst case, then I always have a backup engine.

By the way, I will have to run with the 2057 because I race in Europe with EFRA Rules;(

Thanks for all your answers guys. Just to be clear on the bottom end, if the idle is high and it drops after sitting at a stop for 3 seconds the bottom end is too rich right??? I don't want to hurt this motor i love it simply amazing...!!!!!!

blktransam 08-30-2010 03:19 PM

could be rich on bottom OR lean on top...depends how high of idle..I have had it go eighter way depeneds on the "tone" of the high idle is how I adjust mine in that situation

I'm going to start breaking in my B5 for the truggy and B6 for the buggy tom! Hopefully put them on the track thurs for some easy runs and race them sat at a club race.

nitro crazy 08-30-2010 06:53 PM

guys, got a b5 in a truggy which werks pipe is best for this.. thanks...

stallen50 08-30-2010 07:00 PM

2013 is a torque monster and 2057 is alittle calmer with a bit more run time

nitro crazy 08-30-2010 07:11 PM

cool, thanks. I do need runtime do you think i shoud go with the 2057 pipe. the track i run on is outdoors and very large pretty fast to. thanks for your help..

mike881 08-30-2010 07:32 PM

I love the 2013 in my D8T. I don't think I'd want less torque though... I think you need the torque of the 2013 in a truggy. Either way you wont be disappointed

stallen50 08-30-2010 07:48 PM

A guy i race with runs 2057 pipe in his d8t and it flies. Its up to your driving style. Some people like agressive and some like smooth

RON....

just broke down my 2009 B5 to check things out. 1st off......this race engine is fantastic....runs great. but, i did find the piston top and button to be black. the residue rubs off with alittle coaxing....is this an indication of running it too rich..?? hi end..?? low end..?? under race conditions, it runs exceptionally well.................

Basically it's just the castor oil in your fuel which turns into carbon when it burns. If your engine is runnimg exceptionally well then it sounds like your tune is fine so I would not mess with that. You can try pulling a thin shim to drop your deck height (bump your compression ratio slightly) which should help create a little bit more of a complete burn of the mixture. Just make sure that you run 1 tank and then check the piston top/combustion chamber for signs of pre-detonation (you'll see a dry look to the parts and after continued use the parts will look dull almost sandblasted). If you see any signs of detonation add the shim back.

Regards,

Ron
