Might I suggest a B6 as you already have a spare pipe? I think that you will be quite impressed with this engine!

Man my carb boot around the LEN is leaking so bad! Is there a seal that may have gone bad? How can I fix this? My LEN is a hair lean if anything.....
Thanks 871 |

Mine comes off at around 200 at the Factory and it has about 5-6 gallons on it so far.
I really hate to mess with anything though, it's running better then any engine I've had so far. |

I had wanted a b6 this summer but I am only running truggy this year. Just easier to stock parts for truggy only since that is what my son runs also.

Since the weather changed mine is only getting to about 170 or so, and it's running really good. Not to much smoke and is idleing great. Maybe I'll try leaning everything just a hair the next time I'm up there, and closing my idle gap just a bit.

Quick update guys, my B5 is running better after leaning out the bottom, it was waaaaay rich, I leaned about a quarter turn and temps were the same, got smoke all the way till the top and had smoke at the bottom but not crazy smoke.
My runtime issue is still there but after talking to everyone I could at ate track today I was told those sort of run times at out track are near impossible. The best runtime anyone has ever gotten is 9:50 with a Nova +4 in Buggy and it disintegrated the tank after that, too lean... Thanks for the help!! |

in most cases you are right but if his tune was already on the rich side then his motor will run leaner in the cooler weather. 170 sounds rich still even in colder temps.
Is it bad to run it at 170 if everything seems to be running well. I never did time my runs, but everytime I pulled off the track I thought I was going to be low on fuel, and always had about 1/4 tank left. |

no I never got one, I wanted one but sold my buggy before I got it:) I am sure it would work well when using the 2013 what do you think?

In my opinon it's almost as detrimental to these small two stroke motors to run them two cold as it is to lean. If it were me I would lean it up to run at peak performance and go up a tooth on the clutch bell or use one of the Werks pro clutches in a heavier weight to take some snap out of it if it's to much for your track. Only time I use a temp gun is during break in, tune for performance and leave the gun in the pit bag.
If I'm at a race I adjust performance to what I think is ideal then before a qualifier i shoot a temp after warm up and another after the qualifer. This way i have a quick reference when tuning engines of roughly where they should be running at and Incan quickly replicate it if we have small weather changes etc that affect tune. |
