standard is very torquey, it hits hard then just keeps going. i got one used and am looking for ways to soften it up, way up. its almost undriveable even with a soft clutch. problem with the soft springs is it seems it eats up shoes quicker. i even have a super tall gearing on the rc8t, 14/48. track is usually pretty loose but on the days its sticks it will come in handy. i tried 2035, jp-3, 053 and by far the 086 suits the stock best.

Paul I have been using the VP Pro 3023 pipe , with a Axe Rossi header (@6mm longer than std VP) strangely I also heard that the Axe 2050 with the VP header works well too...

Haley now uses 3023/axe header as well I believe..

I personally run a discontinued 2041...but for overall perfomance you can't go wrong with the Dynamite 086!

Talking Mod Motor

Hi. The locations I would be running this motor if I purchase it is on a track that is tight. Not a lot of time to open up the engine. Occasionally, I would be running at Rescue Just outside of Sacramento, Ca I generally don't push my motors and the seem to last forever.

I also run O'donnell 30% Nitro and have had good success with this fuel.

Generally need something with great run times and a lot of bottom end.

How does this motor work in this category??

Thanks

Race Prepped JS .21's went 1-2 in buggy and 1 in truggy yesterday at our local track. The truggy race was won on fuel mileage. There were roughly 5-6of them spread out through both classes, none of which had an issue and ran like champs.

Ok guys does anyone have a fresh serving of crow that I can have? I am going to need some to eat.

I came on this thread a few weeks ago really upset with the performance of my JS Race Prep. I went as far as to call it junk and a paper weight. After rethinking what I was doing and some help from a local racer who really knows motors and tuning I couldn't be happier with this mill. It just flat out rips in my truggy. I have since put another gallon on it and haven't had a single problem. It is still a little cold natured to get started but once you get it up to temp hold on! It has never flamed out one time even at a big race two weeks ago when most everyone was flaming (100+ degrees outside) my JS kept screaming. On top of all of this I can get 12+ minutes in my truggy with the 086 pipe. Not sure how it gets any better than this.

With all of the above said I would like to formally apologize for my previous statements about this motor. I was wrong and shouldn't have said the things I said without giving it another chance with an experienced tuner.

Now if anyone can tell how to properly reduce the power of this thing I would appreciate it. Waaaay too much power for me.

Just Broke Myne in today.

Joe Told me to Run it Figure 8 style Big parking lot, for 45 mins at 0-30% Speed. Without shutting Engine off. So that is what I did. Kept temps At 200 never Above, and lowest were 155. I used a 1/10 tire foam to build n keep heat in. Didnt use a heat gun, said its worthless and now I understand why.(thank you Joe) I think It did or was 4 Full Tanks worth. Thing is still super tight, and Now Time to tune her. Sounds like she is going to be a beast.

7mm Venturi

P5 O.S. Glow Plug / Also have a P4

30% Byrons fuel

086 Ofna pipe/ Also have a 9886 which is better???

Hello Dr Evil, I'd suggest the Race Prepped or Stock JS engine, with the Dynamite 086, Novarossi 9886, or the 2041 pipe. The Full Mod engine is better suited for big flowing tracks.
