needle settings

If I was wanting to try a EB Mods full mod engine I got off of here, and I can't get Eb Mods fuel before a big race here, What would I set my needles at to start with. I would be using Byrons fuel for now. Joe would I start out at the settings you stated a couple of posts earlier? Or is there a starting point from when they sent the engine new? I will be using an 086 pipe and a p4 plug. Thanks for any input.:)

Ran my JS this past weekend, and couldn't be happier, I got it to run how I wanted, and was very pleased wth the results, after 7.5 minute pit stop it took only 75cc...very good!!!

vince7870 09-20-2010 07:14 AM

Ran my newly slugged full js's (plural=two of dem) and I'll I can say is wow. My EB mod wings were a flapping like a hummingbirds.

Also for those running the engines...any of them....I tried the 0801 pipe and it too was a very good move. It woke up the already great response the 2041 pipe had and did it with a wicked crisp sound. Not sure if it was pipe or slugs but my motors were screaming and I ran outa straightaway! I had more needle to turn as both ran a cool 210 all day!

Thanks ed the wings are just right!

My EB Mods JS .21 R/P, is a sip into 3 gallons and is getting better and better as time goes on. Last time out was last weekend at the East Coast R.A.C. at McCulloughs Off-road... which was a flawless, issue free weekend with regard to the Engine and Fuel. 086HS, 7mm venturi, stock Mugen clutch, and either a P4 or P5 we were comparing both, 220-230* after 30 minutes... and an out of the box at friday practice, Mugen Mbx-6 Mspec = 3rd place podium, Pro Buggy

Can't wait to get my hands on a Full Mod, btw.

Always a good read on this thread.

Pricing on the .21 and .23 are the same, however the STOCK engine price just went way down. check your local dealer or online stores.

bboard 09-22-2010 05:44 PM

Run my R/P for the first time in my first nitro race at the Cape Fear Inv. Motor was great, my driving was a different story. I was finally getting the track down in the main, when the front end of buggy started falling apart, and the throttle servo burnt up:flaming: Waiting on parts now, this nitro thing is alot funner than electric.

jbright33 09-26-2010 12:49 AM

well back from lcrc's cash race and first outing with the js .23 hellfire and wow  day started out decent with me winnning my first qualifier and placing me in second:) but just couldnt make it stick for the rest of the day ended up qualifing 6th after battling with what felt like the motor leaning out 3/4 of a way through the first 2 qualifiers so i would only turn the high end needle 2 hours after each qualifier but it just seemed to do the same thing. so after talking to edd on the phone i started thinking maybe its rich and i just cant c it cause it was dussty so i leaned it out a little for 3rd heat and it seemed to do a little better. so A main time i started off pretty good i ended up jumping up to 3rd and holding it for alittle over 3 laps till the motor started to act up that it was running lean so came in for adj (fattend high end) wnet back out and did 2 laps and came back in for more and fuel ended up finishing 7th overall. so i was scratching my head thinking hmm. after everything was over i put a new p4 plug in the motor and went out and 10 minutes later came in for fuel running great  ended up starting to lean it out and the motor was screaming and still had plenty of cushion to go on the needles. but yea i had a rough day of tunning only cause i refused to think it was a glow plug but after all said and done motor runs great. and js/ebmods motors finished 2nd,3rd,4th,and 5th i beleive in buggy. man that was alot of typing lol

i use p5's to jud. but i chose to go with a p4 cause of it chillin off alittle and i thought the race would run into night so didnt want to have to try to do a change of tune before the main. i think after the race were over when i was running with the new p4 it was prob high 50's out.
